Nova:
"Yeah..?" I wait anxiously for his response, watching as his facial expressions morph while he processes the information
"That'd be good" he continues to look off in the distance
"Obviously we'd have to speak to Eli and go to court to change guardianship and all that but" I ramble
"Wait what?" I stop myself to make sure I heard him correctly
"I said that'd be good" he finally breaks out into a smile and I jump up to hug him, careful not to squash Ava
"This is going to be exciting!!" I say as he spins us around
"This is perfect Nova!" We both celebrated before he stops abruptly, putting me down on the ground slowly, looking at something behind me
I turn to see both Max and my dad glaring at Kai.
"My bad" Kai says patting my head
"They're idiots" I say referring to the two grumps
"They're protective" Kai counters as we both chuckle at the two caveman
"Should we tell Eli the news" I ask getting ahead of myself
"We should actually ask him first" Kai reminds me
"Right, right yeah" I agree, walking over to them.
"Hey, Nova was telling me that you and your husband had been looking to adopt?"
"Yeah.. we were but it's been unsuccessful so far" Eli says looking sort of sad
"Well we were looking for someone to adopt Ava if you're interested?" Kai asks and literal fireworks go off around Eli. He looks so happy.
"You're being serious right?" He asks looking around at us for someone
"Scotty isn't about to jump out with his ninjas or something is he?!" He continues to scan the people around him
"We're being serious" Kai says with a smile clearly amused
"Holy shit?! This is the best day of my life!!" he says in a rush, almost jumping over the barricade, onto the track.
"Are you crazy?!" dad asks, pulling Eli back by his shirt.
"Yes, that's already been established" I answer for him
"Hey!" Eli says crossing his arms over his chest
"I'm going to go call Dante!" He says excitedly
Kai follows with Ava so they can sort out the details.
For the first time since the start of the conversation I look over to Max who looks completely lost.
"Are you ok?" I ask him slightly concerned
"Dante is his wife?" He asks running his hand down his face
"Husband" I correct with a nod
"Husband" he agrees with a nod of understanding
"I didn't know he was..."
"Gay?" I offer
"Yeah"
"It's pretty obvious and Eli doesn't hide it but your gaydar could just be broken." I shrug
"My gaydar?" Max questions with a chuckle making my dad shake his head, his movement making me remember he's standing there
"Jesus Nova, you're so much like your Mum" he mumbles fighting a smile.
I brush him off and continue
