Messenger (on looking at a Paul Nash)

I wouldn't say I am a big Paul Nash fan per say, but it did give me the inspiration for a peace poem

To you, I am a messenger of what it means to live and thrive.

I do not call to ease the pain; instead, I call of times gone by.

In the trenches, our sorrow stands.

Because a new world should not be made from shell-torn skies.

Oh, how the moon rests on a naked sky.

Oh, how it seems to look so dear bellow crying pale stars.

But this is no man's land, a place to show the crumbled heaps of where we rise and fall.

A place I would not call you to.

A place I would not make you stand.

A place that sheds blood on honest ground
