Wishes in the Waves

•~Chapter 9: Training~•

Third Person POV:

Tanjiro and Sabito stood on the training grounds, warming up and swinging their swords. Jin was doing a sword drill with Inosuke.

The last two they were waiting for were the girls...since Kanao was joining them for the first time and Luna helped with training as well.

They all looked up when they heard Luna's voice.

"Yoo-hoo! We're hee-ere!" she called out.

Tanjiro and Sabito looked up and stopped swinging their swords. Tanjiro immediately turned red after seeing Kanao in a girl's training uniform.

Over her black uniform, she wore a white cloak and was also wearing white boots with yellow laces.

As Sabito watched the two, smirking, Tanjiro and Kanao walked over to each other, both of them turning red.

"Okay, so start the regular drilling like normal. I know this is a small session but we all just have to keep in shape for fighting." Jin said, in a calm, commanding voice.

Turning his attention to Kanao and Tanjiro, he said, "Tanjiro, you can help Kanao doing drills, I'll work with Sabito, Inosuke and Luna."

Although he was less obvious about it, Jin also shipped Tanjiro and Kanao.

Kanao almost jumped for joy at the thought of working alone with Tanjiro. She mentally kicked herself for being so eager like this, reminding herself that their time together was only temporary.

The two walked over to a secluded area of the training grounds.

"Um...so..." Tanjiro began, not knowing what to say. "...you look good in your uniform...!"

"T-thank y-you Tanjiro..." she said.

"So, should we start?" Tanjiro asked, and she nodded.

"We can start with a simple agility training first, or tag..." he said. "If you want, that is." he added hastily.

Kanao nodded slowly. They stood at opposite ends of the grounds, and Tanjiro shouted, "Start!"

He darted toward her quickly, but then she jumped over his head, performing a flip in midair.

He looked in surprise as she landed gracefully. "Wow, Kanao, you're amazing!"

Kanao blushed in embarrassment. It was just like doing tricks and flips in Oceania.

The two continued to train this way, Kanao dodging all of Tanjiro's 'tags'.

During their final round, Tanjiro was already sweating, and Kanao hadn't even begun to pant.

"Start!"

The two teenagers ran around the yard, leaping over obstacles, dodging each other's 'tags', and they were very happy about it.

At one point, Tanjiro was able to win the game. Grabbing Kanao's hand after a long chase, he cried out, "I win!"

Kanao looked at the laughing redhead, and she laughed a bit along with him.

When they both realized that they were still holding hands, both them let go and turned away, basically freaking out.

The two heard Jin's voice call out, "Training's over!" and they left the grounds walking side by side.

The two walked in silence until Tanjiro said, "I'm sorry."

"What are you apologizing for?" Kanao asked, turning towards the redhead.

"For our schedule being...interrupted."

"Tanjiro-kun..." Kanao said, not noticing that she had added 'kun'.
