October 14

Los Angeles, California

My legs pace back to back in an anxious manner. Today's the day. The day I tell Santiago that I'm pregnant with his child. His baby. Should I do it? Will he hate me? Will he throw me to the curb? I have to put my big girl panties on. I'm in front of Romero tower downtown. Santiago Romero's tower. His business. I walk into the open lobby and go straight to the front desk.

"Hello and welcome to Romero towers! Do you have an appointment with anyone?" The lady says and I reply with a simple head shake. She looked me up and down as If I was cattle for sale. I wasn't badly dressed so I don't know why this woman is giving me an attitude. The old hag looked at me and rolled her eyes. "Well I can't help you with that can I? Go back to Goodwill, honey." I stand stunned as the lady said those words to me. I was about to respond with the nastiest comment until... "That's enough, Gretel. You're fired. Come with me, Bellissima." Santiago said to the lady as I held an ugly laugh back. Santiago walked to his office as I followed him.

He slowly opened the door and pulled the desk chair out for me. "So, why are you here Bellissima?" He sat down in his chair as I took a deep breath in. "Ya um, do you remember the night after the bar and we had sex?" I questioned him and he nodded. "Well, um I don't know how to say this but I'm pregnant." A tear fell from my eye as his eyes widened. Fuck, this is it. "It's my baby, huh?" I nod and he digs his face into his hands.

"Listen, If you don't want to be in this baby's life it's fine. I can manage this baby alone-"

"Stop."

My voice stops at his demand as he gets up and comes around to my seat. His hands ultimately grab mine as I stare him in the eye. "I'll not leave my baby without a Father. That's out of the conclusion." A sudden peace in my heart settles in. "How many weeks are you?"

"16 weeks as of today. I have my first Doctors appointment tomorrow if you would like to join." Santiago nods and I grab my phone. "Here, put your number on my phone. I'll tell you the rest later on." He obeyed and I moved on with my day. Shit, that wasn't so hard after all.

"This might be a little cold but It'll eventually go away

"This might be a little cold but It'll eventually go away." The kind nurse said as she used the ultrasound machine on my lower abdomen. Santiago was thankfully right next to me eyeing me and the screen at the same time.

"And I see your little munchkin right there." The machine showed a small apple-shaped figure on the camera. "That's our baby?" Santiago asked and the nurse nodded. "Yup, that's your baby. It's only the size of a green apple but it'll grow as the weeks pass by." I stared at the screen, realizing that there is an actual baby in me. "C-can we hear the heartbeat?" I ask as my voice cracks from some tears coming out.

The nurse once again nods her head and turns on the audio bar. A small, faint heartbeat echoed and both of our eyes widened. "We have a baby." Santiago reached closer to me and held my hand. "That's our little one," I whispered out.

The nurse whipped off the gel from my stomach and proceeded to print some pictures of our baby. "When will we get to know the gender?" I ask before the nurse walked out. "The 18-20 week mark period is the best time to tell the gender. If you go to the front desk, you can plan your appointment for the gender reveal sonogram if you'd like." I agree and thank her for everything.

"Ximena, can I ask you something?" I look at Santi while I sit up from the chair. "Go on a date with me tonight. You me and little one."
