James

Last night was something that I had been waiting for, for over 3 months. Riley and I retreated to her room after her bath
The plan wasn't for us to share a bed, in fact my Dad had made up a guest room for me while Riley had my old room
But while we watched a film together she slowly fell asleep against my chest and I was not about to wake her up

So I slumped lower into the bed before pulling the duvet over the pair of us, allowing sleep to completely take over both of us
Hell knows it's hat she needs most at the moment

The next morning, I left her in the bed while I headed downstairs to see Dad being the only one awake which wasn't unusual. Dad and I always tended to wake up around the same time, it's always been a thing
"Hey son" He said lifting his head up from his cup of coffee
"Morning" I continued making him close his newspaper look at me with a small smirk on his face

"I see the guest ro was not needed last night?" He asked making me smile a little turning to him
"Yeah it's a long story" I chuckled taking a seat in front of him
"You truly love this girl don't you" He said and I looked at him
I'd never really thought about Love, or even had that in my mind. I've only been focusing on making sure Riley is okay but you know what..

"I think I do" I whispered making him smile widely making him chuckle putting his hands on my shoulder
"I think it's time we let you in on a little family secret" he smiled

After a long morning with Dad getting everything set up and ready, it was time to get Riley ready for the best day of her life
"What are you doing?" Riley asked as I walked in grabbing the duvet straight off of her
"Get dressed" I said making her laugh
"why?" she asked and I shook my head
"Stop asking questions" i said making her giggle a little before getting out of bed

It wasn't long until I had Riley walking through the ranch until we got to our first stop, she looked around before raising a brow at me
"Horse riding?" she asked looking a little unsure
"Of course" I said as we approached a white horse, I remember when Gramps first got this horse, I was 5 and he soon became my best friend
I wouldn't trust any animal like I trust him

"Riley this is Casper. Casp this is Riley. Be nice" I said stroking his main making him nuzzle my hand a little harder
"How fitting, since you know, Casper-" she started
"the friendly ghost" I laughed

"Come here" I said making Riley look at me confused, I chuckled grabbing her hand pulling her closer before lifting her into the air and placing her on top of Casper, Riley looked at me very unsure to the point she clung onto my arms not wanting to let go
"Riley let me get on" I laughed making her look at me so scared, I chuckled lightly removing my hands from Riley before jumping on to the horse so Riley was in front of me attempting to reach back to me clearly still a little scared

I chuckled before wrapping my arms around her waist letting her cling tightly to my arms around her stomach
"Are you ready?" I whispered into her ear, she took a deep breath in before closing her eyes
"I think so" She said making me smile
With one swift wrist movement, Casper was in motion

It didn't take long for us to make it through all the fields my grandparents owned before eventually getting to the lake
"This place is beautiful" Riley said as we sat on Casper over looking to sun as it set against the lake
"come on" I said jumping of off Casper before grabbing her waist helping her down

Riley took a hold of my hand happily after I finished tying Casp to the tree, she had one hold of my hand intertwining our fingers while the other hand wrapped around one my arms as we continued to walk.
I placed a small kiss against the top of her head only making her cuddle into my that little bit more

We continued to walk until we got to the edge of the small pier over the lake, at the edge of it laid a picnic blanket full of my Dad's homemade food from recipes he got from his mother. This whole date was perfect

"This is amazing" Riley gushed as we sat at the end of the pier with our feet slightly dipped into the water, Riley's head leant against my chest while my arm stayed around her waist
"You now have something in common with my mum and gran" I chuckled making Riley look at me confused

"What do you mean?" She whispered
"This date was something My Dad did with my mum after Grandad spoke to him and this was the first date Grandad took my Gran on when her parents owned this ranch" I explained making her face soften completely
"You didn't nee-" she started but I shook my head

Without letting her finish the sentence I leant forward pressing my lips against hers. I could feel a small smile creeping against her lips only making me pull her in a little more by the waist
"I wanted to Ri" I whispered pulling away placing my forehead against hers

There was a small blush flush covering her face before she buried her face into my neck making me chuckle

Tonight couldn't have been anymore perfect
