One Week Later

"Peter, I'm okay. Please stop worrying!"

"Did you change your bandages and take your pain meds?"

I sigh and look at MJ, who looks up from her book that she was pretending to read, while she was actually listening to me and Peter's conversation over FaceTime. "Yes and yes. I feel great."

"Did you have any nightmares last night?"

"Nope! Did you?"

"Ned and I stayed up all night playing video games so I didn't get any sleep."

"I bet you're tired."

"So tired." He smiles over the FaceTime, and this simple action gives me butterflies. "I miss you."

"I miss you more." I smile, ignoring MJ's groan.

"Are you sure you'll be fine to swing?"

"I'm positive. I've been swing deprived for too long. I need the rush or I'm going to go crazy." He laughs at my words and his laugh makes me smile even brighter.

"So, what have you and MJ been doing?"

"What do you think?"

"Reading?"

"You know it. I've finished two books since I got here."

"But you got there yesterday..."

"And?"

Peter laughs. "What books have you read?"

"The Inheritance Games and The Hawthorn Legacy."

"Did you like them?"

"I loved them."

"Peter, May made us waffles!" Ned's voice yells in the background.

"Okay! I gotta go, Gracee. I'll come pick you up later today. Does that sound okay?"

"Sounds great. Eat some waffles for me."

"I will." Peter smiles at my request. "I love you."

"I love you. Tell Ned and May I said hi."

"May, Ned, Gracee said hi!" Peter yells.

"Hi, Gracee! You're missing out on this waffles." Ned yells from the kitchen.

May runs into the room and takes the phone from Peter. "Hey, gorgeous!"

"Hey, May! I miss you."

"I miss you more. I hope you're having fun! Where's MJ?"

"She's over here." I turn the phone so she can see her laying on her bed.

"Hi, MJ!"

"Hey, May!" MJ waves.

I turn the phone back to show my face. "I love you."
