Chapter Nineteen

I stare at myself in the mirror. Dark bags hang well under my eyes. Tear stains plague my skin. I clean my face and brush my hair. I walk downstairs for breakfest. Ben is already waiting at my door for me. I haven't seen Toby since Ben announced our relationship. I'm really worried about him. Its hard for me to sleep for some reason. We arrive at the table.

"Hello (Y/N), Ben." Slender greets. I smile softly, walking to my seat. Ben pulls my chair closer to his and wraps his arm around my shoulder. I lay my head on his shoulder, closing my eyes. This is so uncomfortable.

"Can you come to my office after breakfast,   (Y/N)?" Slender asks. I nod curtly. I haven't eaten these few weeks cause I've been to tired to hunt. I think Jeff and Jack are worried for me.

"What did you need Slender?" I ask, sitting in the chair across from him.

"Toby requested a long mission after the announcement Ben made. I placed him on one. He will be back soon. It was supposed to be a three month mission but he finished it two weeks early so he'll be back." Slender explains. I sigh heavily.

"Thank goodness." I mutter softly. "Wait, why are you telling me this?"

"I figured due to your new engagement you haven't known about him. You guys are or at least were great friends." Slender replies.

"I've ruined it all..." I mutter, holding my head in my hands. I sigh heavily.

"What happened, Nis?" Slender asks.

"I really fucked up. Ben-"

"(Y/N)! Are you in there still? What's taking so long?" Ben shouts from the other side of the door. I look at Slender and then back at the door.

"I should go. Thank you for telling me about Toby." I thank, exiting the room. Ben grabs my arm roughly, walking away.

"What were you two doing?" He asks.

"He was just telling me what my next mission was. Relax, babe." I lie.

"It better have been. And something about Toby." He mumbles, dragging me behind him. We arrive in the living room. He plops down on the couch, pulling me with him. He starts playing his games.

"Can I play?" I ask. He looks over at me before laughing.

"You are just as useless in games as you are in real life, love. I appreciate it but you'll just get in my way." He answers, laughing. I just look at my lap, twiddling my thumbs.

Ouch.

"That hurt my feelings." I mutter quietly.

"Sorry, love. I'm crazy so I don't think about things." He replies, not even looking away. My face darkens.

Excuses.

"I'm gonna go on a walk. I'll be back later." I mutter. Ben doesn't even acknowledge me. I sigh, leaving. Smile follows close behind me.

I walk aimlessly into the dark forest.

What am I gonna do? I can't let Ben hurt Toby. Especially not because of me. I wonder if there is a way for me to the immortality without Ben knowing. Hm.

I suddenly run into something soft but stiff. I look up. It's Toby. He glares down at me, before brushing past. He is covered in blood.

"Toby, I-"

"Don't bother."

"Toby, I really am-"

"There's no point, (Y/N)! You made your choice! You ditched me for my best friend. I don't think I'll ever forgive you two."

He walks away somberly. I bow my head and walk the opposite direction.

How I wish I could just die. It would be so easy.

I look around the forest.

Its so dark and dreary. It conveys the tension perfectly. Why should I have even tried to make Toby jealous in the first place? He's not that type of person. All I did was shatter his heart. I'm the worst.

"Look who it is~" A voice calls from the forest. My head shoots up and I look around. Smile rears up next to me.

"Is that who I think it is?" A different voice asks.

"Yep. It's the (Y/N) we've heard so much about." The first voice replies.

"Uhm, hi? Who are you?" I ask curtly. The figures in the dark laugh loudly.

"Wouldn't you like to know."

"Well yes. That would be the reason I asked." I reply. I hear a scoff. Their emotions seem mischievous amd curious but not threatening.

"What are you doing out here?" One of them asks.

"I'm thinking. I kinda got myself in a fucky situation and I can't get myself out of it." I explain, sitting down. I lean against a tree behind me. I bring Smile into my lap and pet him, he calms down instantly.

The two figures step out of the woods. One is a purple and blue clown looking individual. The other wears dark clothes and a striped scarf. Their mask is split down the middle with half of it being white and the other half being black.

"I'm Candy Pop and this is Kagekao." The clown explains. I nod, smiling softly. They sit in front of me.

"I assume you guys are coming from one of the brothers' mansions?" I ask. They both nod.

"That would be Splendor." Candy Pop explains. Kagekao nods. I smile softly, petting my dog

"So what happened?" Kagekao asks. I hang my head.

"Its really confusing." I explain, trying to dodge the question.

"We've got time."

"Well, to put it simply, my boyfriend encouraged me to date him by threatening to kill my best friend who is also my crush. Now my best friend hates me and I have no idea what to do." I explain. They stare at me. Then look at each other.

"Who's your boyfriend?" Candy Pop asks. I look down.

"Uhm-"

"(Y/N)! Where the fuck are you?!" Ben yells.

"Quick, hide!" I whisper shout. I stand up, turning around. Ben plows through the bushes.

"Why in the hell did you not take your phone? How am I supposed to find you?" Ben asks, yelling.

"I didn't think about it, I'm sorry." I mutter, yelling hurts my ears so I cover them.

"I'm sorry love, I just get angry when I can't be with you." Ben apologizes. I look down.

"Mhm."

"You weren't talking to anyone, right?" Ben asks, staring into my eyes.

"No. I'm alone. Well with the exception of Smile." I explain. Smile sits calmly next to me.

"Good. I can't have anyone trying to take you from me." He explains, turning around.

"Yeah.."

"Make sure you come back to the house soon. We've gotta friend to upset." Ben explains. My eyes widen.

"No! We can't do that in front of him!" I shout. He turns around and glares at me. He pulls out Toby's immortality. The red soul glows brightly.

"You'll do whatever I please." He orders. I nod, looking down. "That's what I thought."

He walks back into the forest. I look down at the phone in my hand.

Kagekao and Candy Pop emerge from the trees.

"That's not okay, (Y/N)." Kagekao explains. I look at him and sigh.

"I know but there's nothing I can do. He's got Toby's immortality. If I do anything wrong, he'll kill him.." I mutter. I hang my head as tears fall down my face. I feel two hands on my shoulders and look up. They both have a hand on me.

"We have an idea."
