When we got back to Jisung's dorm, we both layed down side by side on his bed. His cold arm was pressed against my arm but I didn't mind that too much. I was getting used to his coldness.
"So, did you enjoy it?" I asked him, struggling to even keep my eyes open.
The teddy bear that I had won was resting on my stomach, my hand placed gently on top of it.
"It was the most fun I've had In years," He admitted, sounding almost shocked by his own answer. "I actually had more fun being there with you than when I was with my friends."
"Don't let your friends hear you say that."
He laughed at that, I felt the mattress shift slightly under us as he did it.
"Their hearing is really good but maybe not quite good enough to hear me from buildings away."
"Yes but if they ever did, you don't want to mess with a vampire." I turned slightly to look at him. "I learned that the hard way."
"Hey! I messed with you, you didn't mess with me."
I laughed. "I stand corrected."
"I expect a formal apology. In fact, I request a written apology."
We both laughed together.
I felt so comfortable with us like this. We seemed to have grown pretty close to one another over the time we had spent together. After he had bitten me, he visited me for a while, we had gotten close even then. But now, it was a different level of closeness.
We genuinely felt like friends. I could tell he cared about me, about my safety and my life. He seemed to enjoy spending time with me, too.
"Did you enjoy the arcade?" He suddenly asked me, turning his head to the side so our eyes met.
His dark eyes were piercing, beautiful and soft. All at once, without any effort.
"I did. I'd never been to an arcade before so It was nice to gain a new experience. Especially if I do...end up dying."
His eyebrows furrowed slightly when I had said that last part. It seemed as if it pained him to hear me talk about my death.
"I'm happy to hear that. If you do..." He trailed off, clearing his throat and then jumping ahead in his sentence, "then I want you to enjoy what you have left."
I turned my head away from his so that I was staring at the ceiling now. It hurt to think about how little time I had left. Slightly under three months now.
But I could enjoy my final months alive. Jisung and I could do lots of fun things together like we had done today. That is, if Jisung wanted to.
"Can I ask a pretty big favour of you?"
"Anything," He replied softly.
"I have a lot of things I've always wanted to do but was never able to. I was very limited due to living in an orphanage..."
He cut me off before I even got a chance to finish. "I'll help you do whatever it is you've wanted to do."
I almost gasped in relief when he said that. I knew he cared about me but a lot of people wouldn't want to spend months doing someone else's last wishes.
"Really?"
"Of course," He replied softly. "It can't be anything like go on the national news or say goodbye to Heather. I'm sorry but..."
"I understand."
It hurt to even hear him mention Heather. I wanted to give her some sort of closure. The idea of, even after - if - I die her spending the rest of her life searching for me, made me want to cry.
