Chapter 4

"This is unacceptable! I won't have a gay daughter, I won't allow it!" My dad yelled.

"How could you do this to our family!" My mom yelled whilst tears poured down her face.

"Do you know what people will think of us!? How this will affect our family!? My dad yelled in my face causing me to cry even more and back away.

"It's like we don't even know who you are." My mom said, still crying.

"Are you ok? Your zoning out again." Reyna asked from the kitchen, shaking me out of my thoughts.

"Uhm yeah I'm fine, just thinking about something." I replied.

"Ok, do you wanna go grocery shopping with me before we go out? We really need to go." She asked.

"Sure." I said before getting up from the couch towards the door with her. We made it down to her car and started driving to the grocery store. We didn't talk much though, she just put on some music.

I didn't really feel like speaking. You see last night at the bar my brother showed up, I don't really like him, he's always been my parents golden child he could never do anything wrong in their eyes.

I hadn't spoken to my brother or the rest of my family since I got kicked out at 18. It was hard at first when everything reminded me of them, but it got better eventually.

Except for yesterday when he walked into the bar, everything that happened just came back to me along with all the emotions.

He and I didn't talk that whole night, his friends ordered the drinks but I know he recognized me because he kept staring at me. I didn't even know he lived around here, this is at least 2 hours from where we grew up.

And to make matters worse for me I haven't seen Ivana in the last 4 days I've worked. I think maybe she decided to stop coming to the bar.

We parked at the grocery store and got out of the car. We went inside and went our separate ways to get what we wanted. That's what we usually do.

After we're done our own shopping we find the other person. I finished my shopping in about 15 minutes and went to go find Reyna.

"Hey Rey, you done yet?" I said walking down the cookie aisle.

"Yeah pretty much, let's go checkout." She replied walking towards the cashier.

After we got our stuff we went out to eat with some of our friends Jen, Andie, Isaac, Callum, and her coworker Noor. We usually had dinner all together at least once a week. We all were there on time except for Andie, they're never on time.

"Sorry I'm late, I was having a nap and forgot to put on an alarm." They said once they got there.

"It's ok, we haven't even ordered yet." Jen said sweetly, if it were anyone else she'd probably get mad but not to her 'wonderful Andie' she'd never get mad at them.

"Hey when I was 5 minutes late you slapped me upside the head." Callum grumbled.

"Your different." Jen replied.

"Anyways, Priya how's it going with that girl who's lap you fainted on? She was really pretty and she was really nice about it when you fell on her, she even took you to the hospital." Isaac said.

"A girl!? Wow Priya to think you wouldn't even tell me, your beloved roommate about a girl you met." Reyna said sarcastically as she put a hand over her heart.

"Nothing is going on, she hasn't even been to the bar for the last 4 days." I replied.

"No she came yesterday, but a lot earlier then your shift." Callum butted in.

"Oh, did she look upset?" I replied.

"Kind of she looked a little frustrated but she was with another person." Callum replied.

"Oh ok." I said a little disappointed at the fact that she was with another person. I didn't know why I cared so much, I barely know her.

We carried on the rest of the night talking and laughing until we all had to leave. We got in the car and drove back home to go to sleep.

I woke up in the morning to the sound of my alarm. I quickly brushed my teeth and changed to go to my classes. I got in my car and drove towards the coffee shop to get myself breakfast before class.

I got a muffin with a coffee to keep myself awake. As I was walking out I saw Ivana walking towards the coffee shop. Before I knew it she was walking towards me smiling.

"Oh hey Priya." She said stopping to talk to me.

"Hi, how do you know my name?" I said confused because I couldn't remember ever telling her.

"Oh I um got it at the hospital from the doctors, how have you been? I've been to the bar but I haven't seen you" She replied.

"I've been fine, you seemed a little upset though the last time I saw you, we're you ok?" I asked.

"I'm fine, I was just a little frustrated because I had been moving but the airline lost some of my bags, sorry if I took it out on you." She replied scratching her neck awkwardly.

"It's fine, I'm assuming your new in town then?" I said.

"Yup I moved here a couple of weeks ago for school." She replied.

"Oh that's cool, I'm going to be late for class so I guess I'll see you at the bar?" I asked, hopeful that she would say yes.

"Ok, yeah I'll see you at the bar then, bye." She said before walking towards the lineup.

"Bye." I replied before I walked towards my car.

I smiled the whole way to class at the thought of seeing Ivana again tonight. This is the first and most likely last time I'll be saying this but I cannot wait for work.

Should I be doing my project rn? Yes, yes I should but instead I'm writing this. I don't regret anything. I'm also so impatient and just wanna get to the good part bc I have such good plans for this but I wanna make a couple more chapters before. Like i am so tempted to just make this super short and get straight to the good part but I'm gonna wait. But right now I feel like it's a bit boring. Anyways hope anyone who reads this enjoyed this chapter.
