She immediately got to work and I left her to do her thing after I paid. Valerio joined me when I went outside, a grin playing at this lips.
"What?" I groaned.
"Nothing, Buttercup. I'm just surprised you're actually coming tonight." He said smugly.
"Do I have a choice in the matter?" I asked, raising my eyebrows.
"No." He shrugged.
"There you go." I raised my hands disappointed, but not surprised.
We walked in silence for a while, I ignored his glances and everyone else's stares. I had no need to talk to him about anything and I hoped he would go back to his secret torturing or other king duties, instead of sticking to me like an annoying piece of plastic.
He cleared his throat, breaking the silence. "Why did you choose that shop? Nobody goes there."
"Why are you still here?" I blurted out and I immediately bit my lip, trying to hold back a laugh that was very eager to escape.
He glared at me. "That is my business, not yours. Now answer my question."
Too bad I already knew his business.
I raised an eyebrow at his commanding tone.
He rolled his eyes. "Please."
I scrunched up my nose and squeezed my eyes while I gave him a petty smile before actually answering him. "I chose it because nobody went there. I don't want to wear the same, low quality dress as ten other girls, only in a different color. I could tell by the designs and fabric that Agatha's dress would be prettier and way better in quality, making it a way better investment. Plus I like to support small local shops."
"Damn, Buttercup, you're observant." He smirked.
"Oh, you have no idea." I mumbled, earning me a raised eyebrow from him.
We were almost at the house, when again, someone stormed up to us. A woman in her late forties or early fifties, and the exact image of Narcissa, just older. Her facial expression was ready to kill and she raised her hand and slapped me in the face. It didn't do a thing, my head didn't even move because of the impact. She crossed her arms, satisfied with her slap, and eyed me up and down.
She really thought she did something there.
"I'm sure that meant you don't like me, unfortunately for you I couldn't care less." I shrugged out of boredom, moving past her.
She grabbed my arm again and in an instant she was lying on the ground in the mud.
"I'm going to kill you!" She screamed out while a guard held her into a suffocating hold.
I turned around and rolled my eyes. "Get in line."
"Take her to one of the chambers." Valerio commanded the guard.
She screamed in fear, begging him not to.
"No one hurts guests of the kingdom." He hissed in her ear when the guard dragged her past him.
I waved to the people waiting in line to volunteer and went inside, with Valerio following me like a puppy.
"Do I even want to know what the chambers are?" I sighed, knowing very well what the chambers were.
"Nope. Definitely not." He blurted out.
"Ok." I shrugged, plopping down on the couch.
He raised his eyebrows and leaned back against the fireplace, crossing his arms. "You're not going to ask about it?"
