To put it simple, she is bored, bored out of her mind if one should be right. As it turned out, she couldn’t return back to teaching job and the high school and no other schools are looking for anew teacher, so here she is, sitting in the lab of Foster and Selvig, not able to do anything.
And adding to her misery, Darcy isn’t even in the building to keep her spirit up. Her childhood best friend is at school, so the only company she has is Jane and she is deep in her own work.
Spinning around in her desk chair one last time, Skye drops her head on the desk, letting out a deep sigh in the progress. She knew she would miss her students; she didn’t expect to miss them so much and she’s only been away from the school for a month. With another heavy sigh, she can hear how Jane closes her laptop.
“You know what, we need to find you a new job. Don’t take this the wrong way, I like spending time with you Skye, bit having you moping in the lab is quite annoying.”
Jane informs her, smiling slightly, Skye lifts her head.
“Don’t blame me, blame S.H.I.E.L.D.”
She says, knowing fully well that Jane will roll her eyes at the comment, but she won’t say anything against it. She isn’t a big fan of S.H.I.E.L.D after all, not after what they did in New Mexico when Thor first landed.
“Well, I have a meeting, I guess I can bring you instead of Darcy. Hopefully it will turn out better with you there.”
Jane says, rising from her chair. Looking at the woman, Skye lifts one eyebrow at this.
“That doesn’t sound so promising. Where are you going and why would you think I’m better company than Darc?”
She asks, rising herself. Even if she is sceptic to this, if it means she will be able to leave the lab, she will do it.
“Well, I can’t fully blame it on Darcy. Thor was there to and mixing the two of them with the Avengers, especially Tony, isn’t a good idea.”
Jane explains, hearing it, Skye comes to a stop. Blinking a few times, she looks at Jane, trying to figure out of the scientists is joking with her right now. Seeing the serious look on her face however, Skye nods her head.
“So, let me get this right... You are going to meet with the Avengers or maybe just Stark... and you want me to come along, and you consider that I will be better company than Darcy?”
Skye asks, just to make sure she has heard correctly. Seeing how Jane nods her head with an eye roll, Skye shrugs. At least she will see the Avengers tower, she kind of miss that she has put a pan on herself on hacking. Hacking the tower while inside it, right under Stark’s nose would have been glorious.
Moving to follow Jane outside and to the car, Skye starts to wonder why on this earth Stark would want to talk to Jane about. The man can easily get anything he wants with a snap of his finger after all.
“Why are you meeting Stark?”
Skye asks, feeling it is just best to ask the question, instead of trying to figure out the answer herself.
“He has a few questions about Thor.”
Jane answer, nodding her head, Skye should have thought of that from the start. Of course, it would be relating to the God of Thunder.
The rest of the drive is a silent one, leaning on the door, Skye watches the city blur by. She has always liked watching the world move by in speed, remembering how she spent a few nights on BUS looking out the window when most of the team was asleep. Something told her May wasn’t sleeping.
