She can feel how Darcy is slowly starting to calm down, it’s easy when one is holding onto them, but seeing how the agent beside her doesn’t release her grip, Jane keeps hers. She knows just how quickly Darcy can turn and she has already demonstrated that she won’t let anyone downcast Skye in her presence.
A heavy silence falls over the room at Skye’s last comment and as Jane looks towards the S.H.I.E.L.D team, she can see a mixture of emotions and turning to look at agent May, she thinks she sees pride in the woman’s eyes.
“Miss Skye?”
At the sound of someone speaking, the attention turns towards one of the girls, who quickly lowers her head but keeps her hand up, a shaking hand. A clear sign that the girl is shy and Jane can understand her, the agents aren’t making things easier here.
“Yes miss Dawson?”
Skye asks, keeping her voice calm and even, at the same time as she gives the girl a confident smile.
“I might have found something.”
The girl explains, her attention now fully on Skye who nods her head, she doesn’t have a chance to make a comment however.
“Oh, com on!”
“Out speed by Clara again Marc!”
“Alright, everyone who was betting on Marc, I’ll take your money later and split it between the winners.”
The class happily states, except for Jefferson who is keeping is eyes on the shy girl, but Jane gets the feeling he isn’t angry with her, there is something else in his eyes too.
Feeling the change in Darcy’s stance when money is mentioned, Jane looks at her with narrowed eyes.
“Don’t tell me you participated in the betting poll.”
“Oh please, it was easy money, of course I joined.”
Darcy points out when Jane asked and she rolls her eyes and the attention is turned towards them. Knowing that Darcy won’t do anything she might regret now, Jane lets her go.
“I mean, Jefferson might be a Skye in personality and action. But no one is closer to her brain and speed than Dawson, so of course she would crack it before he does.”
Darcy explains and heads are being nod around the room, Darcy did have a point in that.
“Alright, can we get back to why we are here and deal with that conversation later.”
Skye speaks up, and as Jane turns to look at the hacker turned teacher, she can see that Skye is using the same facial expression agent May does the few times she has meet the woman.
“Dawson, send me what you found.”
Skye adds, before anyone has a chance to make another comment. The girl in question nods her head as she turns her attention back to her screen to work and silence falls once more.
A deep sigh can be heard from Skye a few minutes later and her head falls forwards.
“I’m so going to need more power for this.”
She points out, lifting her head, she turns her attention towards Ward.
“Agent Ward. Could you find it in yourself and be nice enough to go down the corridor to the electricity room and pull the large laver in the back. I need to get it fixed because its to heavy for me to pull on my own.”
From the look in Ward’s eyes, it’s clear he isn’t a fan over this question and is about to say no, but the moment both Coulson and May turns their attention towards him, he leaves the room. Mumbling something under his breath as he walks away.
Seeing how Skye is leaning to the side on her chair, probably to watch that he is going, Jane gets a feeling that what ever Dawson found, it’s bad.
“Jane, Darcy, why don’t the two of you take my students and the rest of the S.H.I.E.L.D team down to the cafeteria, it will take some time before we can stat working again.”
Skye suggests, adding to the worry Jane is feeling. Nodding her head however, Jane moves to the door, placing herself so she can point into the right decision. There are complaints from the kids, but with one single look from Skye, they follow the order.
Coulson and the last two members of the 616 team took more convincing and it almost ended with May pushing the three of them out.
“Jane, do me a favour, call my boss.”
Skye says when it’s only the two of them left in the room, with a nod of her head, Jane follows the group her phone already out and towards her ear in seconds.
“Stark”
“Hi, this is Jane. Skye wanted me to call you, something is going on and it doesn’t look good. Me, Darcy and her students have just been sent to the cafeteria.”
Jane explains the moment Tony answered the call, making the decision it would just go faster to tell him everything in one go.
“We are on our way, when you enter the cafeteria, there is a button beside the door on the left, hit it. It will close the doors and windows and keep you all safe, only Skye and I can open the door after.”
Tony orders before the line goes dead, hearing this, Jane come to a stop in the hallway, only a few steps away from the door in question. With a deep breath, forcing herself to think that everything is going to be fine, she enters the cafeteria.
Making a quick scan, she sees that everyone is there before she hits the button Tony told her about, hearing how the locks clicks all around the room. It’s all up to Skye and the Avengers now she guess.
