Chapter 44: The Kirin and Her Date With Fate

Day 1 of the annual cultural festival.

Sana and Fauna embraced in a passionate kiss as the sound of clapping drowned their concerns while the curtains fell upon the stage.

"Glad that you finally got some sense smacked into you. Or should I say~ slapped?" Said San in a teasing tone as he stood beside Faun.

"Why you little..." Replied Faun in an angry tone as he tried to grab San.

"You need to be faster than that Faun, my dear~" Said San as he ran dodged Faun and started sprinting in the other direction.

"Come here you little brat..." Replied Faun as he ran after San.

"Au revoir my love." Thought Faun as he looked at the two embracing before he continued chasing after San.

"Ughhhh- why did I do that?" Thought Fauna, walking through the stands as she and Sana held hands while awkwardly staring away from one another.

"She's too cute... especially when she's flustered- My heart... I can't handle this-" Thought Sana as she gazed at Fauna for a split second.

"It's so awkward yet it feels so peaceful..." Thought Fauna as the two continued walking.

"I wish this moment could last forever." Thought the two simultaneously.

"Hey, Fauna- are you hungry?" Asked Sana, awkwardly as she tried to break the silence.

"No- not really- but if you're hungry then I don't mind getting something to eat-" Replied Fauna, shyly.

"Cute-" Thought Sana as she stared at the flustered Fauna.

"Let's get something to eat then! I heard that Bae's class decided to do a cafe." Said Sana as she shifted from her awkward tone to her normal bubbly tone.

"Sure~ I don't mind~" Replied Fauna as she sees the excitement in Sana's eyes.

"Right this way, ladies." Said a boy as he guided Fauna and Sana to their table in the makeshift cafe.

"Here you go. We're a little busy right now so if you could be a little patient then your waiter or waitress will be with you at any moment." Said a boy as he gave them each a menu and walked back to the front.

"Thank you very much." Replied Sana and Fauna in unison as they opened the small menu.

"How are you ladies doing on this fine evening? My name is Hakos Baelz and I'll be your waitress." Said a familiar girl with red and white-haired.

"Well that was fast-" Said Fauna as she just opened her menu.

"How are you, Bae?!" Asked Sana as she spotted her friend.

"Honestly, I'm hating every moment of this." Said Bae as she adjusted her skirt.

"Yeah, I wouldn't blame you- Wouldn't be caught dead in something like that-" Replied Fauna.

"Yeah, same- can't imagine me in something like that-" Added Sana.

"Welp, it is what it is." Said Bae as she took a sigh.

"Are you feeling alright, Bae?" Asked Sana.

"Yeah, why?" Replied Bae.

"Well, your voice sounds a little deeper than usual-" Said Sana.

"Also- did you get taller or is it just me?-" Added Sana.

"Personally, I think it's just your imagination." Replied Bae as she deepened her voice.

"Wait a second- Hayko is that you?!" Said Sana as she recognized the familiar voice.

"Yep." Replied Hayko in a voice that sounds like he regrets everything.

"What are you doing here and why are you dressed like that?-" Asked a confused Fauna.

"Long story short, I'm covering for Bae so she could go hang out with that lady friend of her's since her class required every student to do something on day one." Replied Hayko.

"Uuuuuuuuu~ that's so sweet of you~" Said Fauna in a shocked tone.

"Well, we know who's getting the cousin of the year reward-" Added Sana.

"I appreciate the kind words but she's paying me back for sure. Trying to copy her voice is hurting my throat and walking in these shoes is a pain in the ass." Replied Hayko.

"Fair enough-" Said Fauna.

"Anyways, what can I get for you two?" Replied Hayko as he stopped trying to mimic Bae's voice.

"Want to just get this?" Asked Fauna as she pointed to the item on Sana's menu.

"The lover's special?- That's a little bit too bold don't you think?-" Replied a flustered Sana.

"Cute~" Thought Fauna as she stared at the flustered Sana.

"Come on~ please~" Replied Fauna as she pleaded in a cute tone.

"She's too precious-" Thought Sana as she clenched her heart.

"Well, I can't say no to that-" Said Sana.

"Yay~" Replied Fauna.

"Can we get one lover's special, ple-" Said Sana as she turned around and spots a missing Hayko along with a note on the table.

"You guys took too long so I just decided that the two of you will have the lover's special." Said Sana as she read the letter in disbelief.

"He really is something, isn't he?-" Said Fauna in an equally surprised tone.

"You can say that twice-" Replied Sana, still in disbelief because he walked away without either of them noticing.

The two chatted as they waited for their order to arrive. A few minutes passed before Hayko walked to their table with a tray in his hand. He passed the two of them a cup of hot coffee each before setting down the tray of assorted desserts and pastries.

"Now before you dig in, you need to kiss to prove that you're an actual couple, or else you'll be charged for each of those items individually." Said Hayko in a playful tone.

"That seems a little excessive, don't you think?-" Asked Sana as her face developed a pinkish hue.

"That's the policy here and you guys agreed to it." Replied Hayko.

"We didn't even order but you decided to run off-" Said Sana in disbelief.

"Oh come on, I left the note and everything. If you really wanted to object to it then you should've canceled the order. But since you didn't, pucker up you love birds." Replied Hayko.

"You have to be kidding m-" Said Sana before she was interrupted by Fauna's lips as she went in for a kiss.

Fauna pulled away from the kiss as Sana was left speechless. She sat there stunned as she didn't expect Fauna's boldness.

"That's all you had to do. Was it really that hard? Anyways, remember to leave a tip and a five-star review for my incredible service." Said Hayko as he walked away.
