I sit at my desk as the day goes on slowly. Akira keeps looking over at me but won't say anything.
My phone buzzes and I pull it out of my pocket to see a text from Aaron. I smile and open it to respond.
Aaron
Hey dad
Hey son
I got my own apartment
Congratulations
Thanks
Umm are you busy at the moment
No
Can I call you
Sure
My phone rings and I answer it and get a confused look from Akira.
"Dad."
"Yes son."
"Ummm. I don't want you to get mad at me for what I say next."
"I won't get mad at you son. I promise you that."
"I.....I've got a boyfriend."
"That's great. Congratulations Aaron."
"You're seriously not mad?"
"No. I accept you for who you are and I just want you to be happy."
"Thank you so much."
"Of course."
"I love you."
"I love you too, I have to get back to work though. I'll talk to you again soon."
"Alright, bye dad."
"Bye son."
I put my phone back in my pocket and get back to work. "Did you see Eyepatch before you left last night?" Akira asks suddenly.
"No, did you?" Why the hell am I lying to protect him. I should be giving him up and turning him in right now, but I'm not.
"No but Rabbit was there so I assumed he was there as well." She says and I nod.
"He seems to have disappeared for a while."
"Why though." She asks like I knew. I mean I do but that's besides the point.
"I don't know Akira. It's possible that Jason killed him."
"Doubt it. I went into the area he was in and his Kagune was missing. I cut his head off for safe measures but I didn't see another body." She says and I nod.
"Then he took off. He's been missing for a while. Then again he may not have even been there."
"Do you know something?" She asks.
"Why do you ask?"
"You act like you're hiding something." She says and I shake my head.
