Chapter 18: A Snakes Weakness

The fancy resturant had faint elavator music flowing through out the place

We all sat down with Jake sitting besides me, my mom in front of my, Sommer to my right, Mateo to my moms left. and Aunt Bella to my moms right. As I sat down I pulled my white sparkly dress down making sure it was pulled down enough

As Aunt Bella sat down she saw that Jake had chosen to sit next to me and she winked at me causing me to laugh

Small converstaions broke out between everyone but what grabbed my attention the most was that Jake wasn't saying a thing, he was just in his own little world

"Hey are you okay?" I asked Jake as I turned to look at him, he quickly turned his head towards me and nodded his head

"Yeah I'm all good" he gave me a smile and looked down at the menu

I nodded my head even though I knew something was off but I tried to ingore it, I browsed through the menu and decided on the steak. I broke into my world as everyone talked to each other waiting for the waiter

The waiter comes by the table and asks for everyones order, "Good afternoon, my name is Lorenzo what can I get for you guys today?" His smile was bright and his eyes were light blue like the ocean

My mom asked for a glass of wine and a salend like always and Mateo asked for a pair of ribs, so did Jake. Lorenzo turned to me with wide eyes

"And for you Miss?" He smiled

I looked into his bright eyes and asked, "May I have the 4 ounce steak please, with smash potaes and a spirt please?"

giving him a smile I hand him my menu, "Of course"

He went around the table ordering everyone elses food, "Okay I'll be right back with those orders" Lorenzo gave me a quick look before turning around and leaving

Converstaions went on as I shook my leg waiting for the food, Jake turns to me not looking so happy. "What was that?" he questioned

I turn towards him and give him a confused look, "What was what?"

"Oh don't play dumb with me Athena" he slightly sarcastically giggles

"I'm not an actor Jake, I'm not playing dumb with you. What the fuck are you talking about?" I start to get a little mad due to the lack of respect

I stare into Jakes eyes waiting for a respone as he just looks at me, "Will you excause me I need to use the restroom" I smiled while I still stared at Jake

My loud footsteps to the bathroom were heard through the restaurant, my anger grew as I made my way closer to the bathroom

As I opened the doors I hear Heavy footsteps behind me, deciding to ignore them I do my business and leave it be

But just as I'm about the open the bathroom doors I hear a dark voice from outside

As Curiosity over comes me I leave the bathroom and hide behind a wall listening to the conversation

"You listen here you mother fucker" was said before a loud thud was heard

There was laugher before anything, "That beautiful lady you were taking to back there is not yours to flirt with"

Stumbling spread though out the Halls, "But she's not yours, is she?" This time the voice was lighter and sweeter but had a hint of venom in it almost warning the person to back off

Like the venom rich people have within there money, with just one bite the venom of a rich person will suck you dry and make you feel like you don't belong. They use the venom as a weapon when in reality it's a weakness that just helps in the moment

But the venom was no use, it was no shield as the person kept fighting using words as a weapon, not money, not venom.

Heavy breathing was all you could here before the voice spoke again, "See that's my down bitch, see that's my soldier and she gonna ride with me until the end."

Ruffling noises were heard as slight cries ran down the hall

"We do drugs together, and we'd both go crazy. It's just me and my bitch fuck you and the world we're just gonna keep getting crazier"

"Jake" I mumbled under my breath as the realization washed over me

Then laughter was heard again as Jake kept going, "May God be with you Lorenzo because I won't be"

Running back to the table I can't help but look over my shoulder to see who Jake was traumatizing

"Hey honey food is should be here soon" my moms sweet voice brings me back into reality

Sooner or later the big bad boy shows up

"Sorry it took me so long there was a line" Jake laughed as he brushed him self off sitting in his seat

I eye Jake before looking back to the table continuing the basic life

"Here's your food" the waiter spoke out, but this time it wasn't Lorenzo, it was a woman. She handed out everyone's food and said her goodbyes

Picking at my food I couldn't stop thinking about what Jake had said

I lean Over to Jake as he ate and said, "Just for the record we don't do drugs together, and I may be your Soldier but I'm not the same Solider I used to be"
