End Recap

I'm a little. No. No, I am not. It's the wrong letter, yeah the wrong letter. It said my name though. Charlotte Dumphry. My heart is seizing. It's as if all the air is gone. Breathe. Breathe. Oh my god, I'm going to be a baby for a year. I'm going to have a bruised butt. And diapers. And no freedom. Trapped all day. I can't breathe. Where am I? I need to sit down.
"Charlotte. Breathe with me. Listen to my voice, you wanna know what I did yesterday?"
Sam, sam is here, with her steady voice. Coming to the rescue. My best friend. I'm going to have to leave her, for a year. No. No no. My heart starts racing again. Though I still manage to nod my head.
"Good! So the other day, I decided to go to the park, I saw this duck though. He was just quaking at anybody who passed. And who knows he might have been a she but the thing was someone had taped a paper mustache to his beak! He didn't seem bothered at all. It was as if he was talking with everyone he walked past. I had brought some bread so I put it right in front of me and sat down on the floor."
My breathing settles and I notice tears running down my cheek.
"The floor was all grainy and hard"
I notice I'm sitting on the floor too. Carpet. It's all soft. I'm thankful the floor is soft.
"He came up to me and eats the bread. And plops right down. I named him Bob. Charlie?"
"Yeah?" I say, looking at my friend. Tears ran silently down my cheeks.
"Tell me five things you can hear right now."
Your voice, the AC...
I continue listing them. Also listing 4 things I can see and 3 I can feel 2 I can smell, and 1 that I can taste. By the end of the grounding exercise, I am calmed down from my panic attack.
"I'm a little." I spit out the first thing that comes to mind. The three words that are circulating inside my brain.
"It seems so Charlie, but it's not the end of the world, okay? You can call me every day if you get moved. And if you don't like it after a year, you can move out. It will be okay."
"Yeah, can we open your letter? Talk about mine later?"
"Let's see then..." she stands up to grab the letter she left at the door. She is so open-minded, she told me once that she didn't care what she got, she is ready to try anything. She is back, sitting next to me, rubbing my back, panic attacks are like being drunk. Not that I ever have been but I can imagine. After a panic attack, you are left with a killer hangover, which can ruin the entire day unless you have a Sam, she is the best.
"Oh! I can't wait! I bet he is sooo handsome!"
I love her, she moves on so quickly. She mumbles to herself for a few seconds, reading through the letter...
"Oh well... it is June. I need to tell you something, Charlie."
Her usual bounce is off.
"What?" I say, worried.
She looks at me.
"I'm bi."
Oh wow.
And before I can speak she says "I know I should have told you, but I didn't know how you would react, you being religious and all. I'm so sorry-"
