Silas POV

Only 2 weeks left.

I haven't had the heart to tell little Lee that I'm going to be gone. She's just as persistent in spending her time with me. Somehow she convinced me to come outside and watch her play football with the other kids. I love watching her. She is quick on her feet and runs circles around the boys.

Her ball control is most impressive to me. She can make that ball go wherever she wants with any part of her body. I can't count the number of tomes She's bounced that thing around my room as she practiced. I wish I could play with her instead of just sitting here.

"I'm done for the day boys!" She calls running over to me.

"You did great Lee." I compliment her.

"Thanks, bub!" She says giving me a big hug. "But I wanna go swing. Come with me?" She asks already pulling me to the small run down swing set.

"Sure squirt." I respond and we make our way to the swings. Instead of sitting down I lean on the bars to help keep them on the ground as Lee swings to her heart's content.

"Leanne." I hear and look over at one of the workers who is leading a couple over to us.

"This is Jackson and Charlie Adams. They would like to get to know you a bit.

"Mi ont oigng twhi htem. I ondt nawt ot klta twih hotes kiufgcn owndiw pospsehr!" Lee speaks in her gibberish language... well it's a real language. The one her parents speak but I don't understand it. She only speaks to me in my language to everyone else she speaks in her language that sounds like she is choking half the time. She just likes that it means only one of the workers can talk to her because the rest don't understand. She gestures to me before speaking again. "Seh ym robtehr! I nowt vlaee mhi! Mi ont veliagn twhi hotes tbihsec!" Lee takes my hand and walks away.

"What was that?" I ask.

"They were just shopping... I told them I didn't want to go with them." She says and I stop.

"Why would you do that?" I ask. "They could have been your family."

"You're my family!" She yells at me.

"I'm gonna die Lee!" I yell back. "You could have a family. Go and be happy."

"Not without you!"

"Stop being a baby! No one wants a dying boy!" I say.

"I'm not a baby, tfaurcdk." I'm not sure what her last word was but I'm certain it wasn't a complaint. All this yelling has me once again panting for breath and even though she's mad Lee helps me to my room. I really hope she finds a family once I'm gone.

Charlie POV

Today is the day we get to meet our little girl. They told us she would resist. That she refuses to be adopted but that many children act that way as a defense mechanism and if we are up for the challenge we can adopt her. I prepared myself for every possible thing. I knew she would be difficult but aren't all children in some way? What I didn't expect was seeing the dark haired boy at her side.

"That's Silas." Our guide tells us seeing we were looking at the boy. "Sad tale that one. The boy won't be here much longer."

"Is he being adopted?" I ask hopefully.

"No, the funds for his care are being revoked. He came to us at three months old. He's a sick boy. The government decided that eight years was enough mercy for the boy. They are using the funds to help house another child with a better chance at a family... it's sad but there's nothing we can do. So many children need help and we can't house them all." He tells me and my husband gives me a look.

"Leanne." Our guide calls before speaking in her language. I know he introduced us because I heard our names but I didn't understand anything else. The girl speaks the same language and our guide sighs.

"What did she say?" Jack asks.

"She is a bit upset."

"What did she say?" My mate asks again and the guide sighs.

"She said in less than kind terms that she didn't want to talk to you."

Jack smiles at that seeing the fiery little blond glare at our guide.

"Tell her that we will be adopting her." Jack says and the man speaks to the girl who yells gesturing to the boy before taking his hand and going inside.

"Now what did she say?" I ask.

"She has a liking for the boy." Jack gives him a look letting him know we want a real translation. "She said he is her brother and she's not going anywhere without him."

"How soon can we take our girl home?" Jack asks and the guide looks shocked.

"I'll have the paperwork ready tomorrow." He says before rushing into the building.

"We can't leave him." Jack says as soon as we are alone. "I know we said we couldn't take him. I know it's crazy and we'll probably get in trouble with the Alpha but he's ours. We knew that when we saw him and Leanne only confirms it... and who knows maybe with proper medical care he will be okay. There's a chance right?"

"Yes... I'm scared to take him honestly... I don't know if I can handle loving a child just to lose them but I can't leave him here either. They are giving up on him. He deserves more than that." I say and we walk in to talk to our guide. He'll need to prepare two sets of papers.
