Silas POV

My entire body aches... but I don't hurt.

I'm panting... but my chest doesn't feel like it's going to explode.

I open my eyes slowly and see... leaves. Orange leaves and dirt.

I slowly sit up spitting out the debris that cover my face and mouth. To my left I see a massive black wolf. It scares me at first but some part of me whines wanting to make sure he is okay. I try to step toward him and fall on my face.

What the!?

Where are my hands?!

Looking at myself all I see is fur and paws. What happened to me!?!

I feel myself beginning to whine at a pitch I didn't know I could make. I'm a dog! What? How? Why?

"Calm down pup. I just need a minute." I hear and look around but don't see anyone.

"Who said that!?" I think. "What's going on!?"

"Looks like language doesn't matter in the magic of the mind link. That's a plus... but it also seems like you won't let me rest for even a minute so..." I hear a groan as the black wolf slowly lifts itself into a seated position. "Hey, Silas."

The wolf grins at me as he looks me over.

"You?... a wolf is talking to me!?" I think in a panic.

"Yup, it's me Scott... although it's Alpha Scott ti you now." He says in my head just confusing me but something about him being called Alpha seems right. Like it's what he is and I can't find it in myself to argue, but..

"What's an Alpha?" I think and the wolf nods.

"We have a lot to talk about, pup, but first I want to teach you how to shift back. I'm sure your parents are worried sick. We'll explain everything." He tells me and I nod. The feeling of being a wolf is odd I'd like to be human again. "Also you need to close off the mind link so people can't hear all of your thoughts. Just imagine your mind having walls around it... like a box.... good, now focus on me when you want to talk to me then think what you want to say." He coaches me through it and I can feel when my thoughts are just my own.

"How do I change back?" I think to him.

"Think of your human form. Not like a picture but how it feels. Ya know? The wind on your skin. The taste of ice cream. How things feel as a human." He says. I try to think of the things he says but my mind keeps going to how it feels to hug Lee, my brothers, mom, dad... "Good job now put your clothes back on. Jackson has been pestering me about how you're doing."

I look down and see my human body before quickly covering myself. When I look back to the wolf it is Scott... well Alpha Scott. He is fully clothed and holding out his hand to me.

"I'm going to keep using the mind link so you can understand me, alright?" I hear his voice in my head.

"Okay." I answer out loud still wanting to learn how to speak their language. "But, how I... understand... what you say in... my head?" I ask trying to use his language but thinking to him when I can't remember the word.

"I'm not sure, but the mind link is some form of magic so my guess is it doesn't use a specific language. It's more of an instinctual understanding of intent that is passed between two wolves... but like I said thats just a guess." He thinks or I guess, links to me. "It's convenient though what ever the explanation. I'll leave that up to the scientists to figure out I'm just glad we can communicate."

"Silas! You're alive!" Mom yells as my entire family swarms me in a hug. They are all yelling different things so I can't focus on the words.

"Gneouh!" Alpha Scott yells something. "We're going to talk through the link so everyone can understand."

"Silas, you can understand us this way? You shifted! How do you feel?" Mom once again takes first crack at talking to me but I can tell everyone here heard her.

"I feel... good... I mean it doesn't hurt to breath or move any more. I even walked here from the woods all by myself!" I tell them earning smiles all around. "But what happened? I turned into some kind of dog! And... and Alpha Scott was a super big wolf! How is this possible?!"

"Have a seat, pup. We'll explain everything." Dad says and I nod before running to the couch just because I can. I love being able to run!

So, I'm a werewolf. Not a dog they get upset when you say that. After I got all the information about werewolves and shifting and pack ranking (I'm a Gamma's kid so I'm kinda a big shot now) and how a pack works the door burst open.

Lee comes running in with Theo trailing behind her. I'd asked where they were earlier and was told Theo took Lee out so she wouldn't get stressed out from hearing me shift. Oh yeah, better hearing is one of the perks of being a wolf.

"You're okay!" Lee yells tackling me in a hug. I squeeze her back and pick her up a little bit. I spin once before setting her down. I've always wanted to do that! All the big brothers on TV do and I've seen our brothers spin her around. I'm not big and strong like them but I still was able to do a little spin which I count as a win. Lee sniffs me before jumping up and down "You shifted!" She screams with a smirk she switches to mind link but I can tell she still lets the others hear. "You're a wolf, like me, now! You can mind link and I don't have to keep what we are a secret any more! Yes!" With that I get another hug and the family laughs at us.

"Yes, no more secrets, but I am proud of you for not telling any humans what you are. Many pups would have let something slip. You are an amazing little girl." Dad says as he picks us both up. "And you are the strongest person I know, Silas. You have been through more than most and come out stronger. I'm proud of you, son."

We all come together in a group hug and I smile. It can only get better from here.
