His back stiffened when he heard her voice.

And then he turned.

"Skye," He said, his voice soft, defeated, "What-"

But he didn't get to finish because she had already barreled into him, clutching him as tight as she could.

"I'm sorry Bash." She cried, her tears smudging against his shirt. "I was an idiot. You're my best friend and I don't want to lose you."

"Hey," He said, "It's not your fault you don't feel the same way about me. That's my problem, I'll get over it."

She opened her mouth to protest.

"Besides," He said, without letting her speak, "You're my best friend too. I love you, of course I do. I mean, how can I not? You're perfect. You never let anything get you down. You fight till the end. You're always excited, and no matter how hard life sucks, you still face it anyway. I fell in love with you, and I don't think I'll ever stop, but I'd pretend, just so you'd come back into my life. I don't want to be your friend, but I want to be something to you because-"

She shut him off in the most effective way possible.

She leaned forward, pushed herself to her toes, and pressed her lips to his.

He was caught mid-rant, and the words died in his mouth.

He froze.

"What-?" He whispered once she pulled away.

She shrugged, "Sorry, you just kept talking. Not that I had a problem with that, or anything. I just really wanted to kiss you."

He just gaped at her, "But you said-"

"I love you." She cut him off, "I really don't want to explain all of it right now."

Slowly, the smile returned on Bash's face, "Really?" He whispered, so close she could feel his breath on her nose, "What do you want to do?"

She snorted, "Take your guesses."

He laughed, his eyes twinkling as he pulled her closer to him, and closed the distance between them.

And suddenly, all the drama, the heartbreak, the pain, was worth it.
