LOVERS LAKE, HAWKINS INDIANA, 1986

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, slow down. Slow down, guys." Both Robin and Nancy began to yell as the compass began to go weird. Steve and Eddie immediately slowing down the boat bringing it to a halt, the four now rocking slightly on the murky water that was currently shining upon the summers moonlight

"Wait, wait, wait. They're stopping." Max told the rest of the group as they looked over to see the boat at a halt

"What are they stopping for? Guys, what's going on? Come on, talk to me." Dustin yelled beginning to get frustrated with the little answers he was getting back

"Uh, Dustin, your compass has gone from wonky to wonky with a capital "aah!" Nancy told him as Robin looked over to the group giving them a big wave making dustin grimace at her lack of seriousness.
"Wait... Steve what are you doing?" Nancy questioned dropping the Walkie-Talkie and turning her attention to the older boy.

"Somebody's gotta go down and check this out. Unless one of you three can top being a Hawkins High swim co-captain and a certified lifeguard for three years, then... It's gotta be me. No complaints, all right?" Steve spoke with a small smirk as he saw the look of worry on her face, realising that she still cares to an extent

"Hey, I'm not complaining. I do not wanna go down there." Eddie smiled at Steve for taking the risk, and the pure fact if that gate was leading them to their deaths he'd be there if Alyssa returned.

"Ugh. When'd Steve get so hairy?" Lucas questioned a sour scowl on his face as he looked through the binoculars at the older boy

"Right? I keep telling him he needs to tame that jungle, but he claims the ladies dig it." Dustin sighed at the memory of the boy refusing to cut the hair

"Let me see." Max spoke stealing the binoculars from Lucas before quietly pressing them to her face staring intently at the Harrington boy

"What..." Lucas questioned as max stayed silently staring

"Gross" Robin gagged as Steve stood shirtless on the boat

"Steve... be careful" Nancy said ignoring the previous comment Robin made.

"Come on, Steve. Come on" Nancy begged waiting for the older boy to emerge from the murky water.

"I found it!" Steve exclaimed as he resurfaced the water, the whole group beaming at the new information

"You found it?!" Dustin asked through the Walkie-Talkie as he saw the older boy appear with soggy hair.

"yeah, I've found it alright" Steve responded through the small device making a small grin appear on their faces for a short period of time

"Cops." Max whispered in a panicked tone as they saw the police begin to search the lake

"sh¡t, sh¡t, sh¡t. We can't let 'em find Eddie." Dustin said in an obvious tone, making max roll her eyes

"Stay with me. Hey, officers!" Max yelled her muddy shoes pushing her from her crouched position before she approached the two police officers

"Max!" Lucas yelled in a whispered tone quickly getting up to follow her

"It's pretty wild. It's more a snack-size gate than the mama gate, but still, it's pretty damn big." Steve grinned before attempting to grab onto the boat as he hot

"Steve?" The wheeler girl began assuming the tall boy was simply joking about but when he didn't resurface dread consumed her body "STEVE?! STEVE!" she yelled futility into the water

"HARRINGTON?!" Robin yelled as Nancy began to stand up grabbing the Walkie-Talkie talkie and wrapping it in a plastic bag before standing on the edge of the boat

"WHEELER DONT YOU DARE!" Eddie yelled, but it was too late, the brunette girl had already dived down making Robin sigh loudly before standing up mimicking Nancys position in the edge of the boat

"Robin, come on man don't do it" Eddie spoke in annoyance

"sorry" she replied before jumping into the cold water. The Munson boy sighing at being left alone once again

"Fucks sake" he muttered before jumping in after them all

if only they knew not everyone would come out alive.
