jeremiah's pov:
she's only been gone for a couple days but i really miss her. i still feel really bad for what happened.
"alright i'm gonna go pick up evie in like 20 minutes" laurel says
"actually can i pick her up?" i say
"oh- sure! does she know you're gonna come?"
"nope it's a surprise so don't tell her please"
"that's so sweet!" laurel smiles and i smile back.
i grab my keys and put them in my pocket. i wait for about 15 minutes and that's when i get in my car and drive over to where i'm picking her up.
i see her walking out of the building and i get out of the car to run over to her.
"jeremiah?!" she says loudly
"hi evie!!" i smile pulling her into a hug
once we release from the hug we share a kiss. "i thought my mom was picking me up!" she says
"well i don't look like your mom, do i?"
"no jere thankfully you don't. that would be pretty awkward if i just kissed my mom" she laughs
i help her with her bag and put it into my trunk.
"so how was kayla?" i ask
"she's doing good for her situation, i feel really bad for her though"
"i'm sorry evie, but hey at least she has an amazing best friend who would do anything for her?!"
she laughs "oh be quiet. how are things here?"
"they're alright, i'm sure everyone's gonna be glad to have you back though"
"wow so you guys really can't survive with out me?! i'm honored" she smiles

evies pov
when jeremiah picked me up i felt really really happy. he's definitely redeeming himself from his past mistakes.
jeremiah is definitely not a person who's used to commitment but it's okay, i know what i'm getting myself into and so does he. things like this make me feel like in the end we truly are gonna work out perfectly fine.
i walk into the summer house and smile at the smell.
i missed this place
this is what home smells like
"hi love bug! how was it?" susannah says from the the dining room
"it's was good! why are you setting the table?"
"because! since you're back i wanted us to eat as a family, we missed you eve!" she says pulling me into a side hug
"i miss you guys more. i'm gonna go change so let me know when dinners ready"
"alright! belly is upstairs"
i walk upstairs and say hi to conrad on his way down. i knock on stevens door.
"come in!" he says
"hey buddy" i laugh walking in and scruffing up his hair
"hey hey hey don't touch my hair!" he says ducking from my hand
"just wanted to let you know i got home"
"yeah yeah now leave i'm talking to shayla"
"omg, HI SHAYLA!" i say rushing over and grabbing his phone
"hi evie!" shayla says
"NO EVIE GO AWAY GET OUT" he says shoving me out the door and taking his phone
i walk into my room and see belly on the bed. "hey!!" i say
"hi evie!! did you just get home?"
"yeah like 5 minutes ago" i smile putting my bag down and unpacking my new clothes
"what clothes did you get?" she asks
i show her the clothes and eventually susannah calls us down for dinner. family dinners are always super super funny. everyone tried to embarrass each other.
"so who's ready for the volleyball tournament tomorrow!?" susannah says cheerfully
"belly and i are gonna dominate everyone" i say while i take a bite of my bread
"oh for sure" belly says giving me a high five
"team belly!" jeremiah says
"team belly!" we all say in unison after him
...
a few hours after dinner i decide to go outside for a swim. usually belly swims at night to clear her mind, but i just felt like going for a swim in the dark.
as i jump into the water i feel the cold water surround my body. i swim a few laps so that i can get used to the water. whenever i go under the water it's silent, and i love it. it's calm and quiet.
i love to do handstands in the pool. after coming down from a handstand, i swim up for air i see someone's legs in front of me.
"i rate that one like a 7.5, you could do better" jere says
"jesus you scared me" i laugh
"whoops sorry" he smiles
"i think that one was at least an 8" i roll my eyes
"uhh yeah no let me show you how it's done" he says taking off his shirt and jumping in the pool
we have a handstand competition and jere keeps on moving my arms to make me lose.
i swim up for air and splash him. "you cheater!"
"i'm not cheating! i'm just tampering with my opponent!"
"that's LITERALLY cheating"
"oh whatever"
eventually we get on one of those large two person pool floats and we talk for a bit. we're laying on our backs looking at the stars, in a comfortable silence, enjoying each others company.
"hey evie?" he says breaking the silence between us
"yes?"
"i have a question-"
right as he says that we get interrupted. "guys you should get some rest!" susannah and my mom say standing in the doorframe
i sigh and roll my eyes.
"okay we will" i say
as they walk back inside i turn my head to jere "what were you gonna ask?"
"oh it's not important, we should probably sleep though, since we're gonna have a long day tomorrow." he says getting off the raft and getting out of the pool.
