Chapter 14: Lady Avice

Thela's POV

"My lady, you can rest and sit whenever you want. I'm getting dizzy,"
"Then don't look,"

Agaran kong sagot kay Martha na kanina pang nagrereklamo sa akin. I've been walking back and forth here at the buodoir because of the thought about Cadmus and his visitor. Sinabi ba namang asawa ako ni Cadmus eh malayong-malayo sa asawa ang estado ko dito sa palasyo.

Hindi ko din alam kung bakit ako sobrang kinakabahan. My mind is full of puzzled pieces about the Sylvaine clan which I belong. Nawala na sa isip ko na hanapin kung sino ang Forgotten knight pero isa pa din iyon sa goal ko sa mundong ito bago ako makaalis. Kung makakabalik pa ako.

I look at Martha who's sipping a tea. Hindi ko din alam kung bakit isang anak ng Baron ang kinuhang attendant ni Cadmus.

"Martha?", I get her attention and she "hmm?", as an answer.
"Tell me about the Sylvaine family," muntik na siyang mabilauakan sa aking tanong. She's obviously hesitant if she'll answer my question or change the topic. She put down the cup of tea and answered me with a question.

"Why do you asked that question, my lady?", she muttered and added, "you're a Sylvaine, aren't you the only one who knows you're family well?",

She keeps on fidgeting her fingers and she's also avoiding my gaze. Kung hindi siya titigil, iisipin ko na may alam siya na kailangan kong malaman.

"I didn't know my family. I'm an orphan and my name is the only thing I had that was given by my real family," I mumbled and touch the top of the cup, "but I remember a burning house and a corpse while I'm grieving as a child," I added. Tila mas nagulat pa siya sa aking sinambit. Mukhang na-hot seat siya dahil sa akin.

But I want to know...

It look's like I need to say more encouragement so she will answer me.

"Look, I'm from a different world and knowing that there's a Sylvaine family in this world made me doubt about myself. Of who I am and what's my connection on them. Now tell me. What do you know?", I said and she bit her finger nails and still avoided my gaze.

"M-my lady, I-I don't know everything. I'm just an infant when the tragedy happens. T-They say, Sylvaine family died when the vampires attack them and killed them without mercy," she answered.

That made me feel heavy. Tila malaki ang impact sa akin ng kanyang sinambit. Naalala ko ang aking panaginip na palagi kong napapanaginipan gabi-gabi. If that's real...and I'm connected with them...then, I belong to this world? Kung panaginip ko lang ito, gusto ko nang magising.

"And then?", I asked. I want to know more. Kahit ayaw kong marinig at kahit na takot akong malaman. Gusto ko pa ring maliwanagan.
"T-That's all I know, my lady," sagot niya na tila kabadong-kabado dahil sa mga tinanong ko.

I sigh. I'm noy satisfied of her answers but I also know that if I asked her again like this. Baka hindi na niya ako sagutin.
"Lord Kreost," boses ni Martha kaya naman napalingon ako sa bumukas na pintuan.

I saw Cadmus with his emotionless face and right beside him is his visitor who looks like we're the same age.
"Martha, leave us for a moment and kindly prepare the lady's dress for the celebration," utos niya na agad din namang sinunod ni Martha.

Naiwan kaming tatlo na tahimik. It's an awkward situation because I don't like the stare they give on me. May ginawa na naman ba akong mali? Bakit ganyan sila kung makatingin?

Tumikhim si Cadmus bago magsalita.
"There's a perfect time to answer all your questions, Thela," seryoso nitong sambit. So, alam niya ang usapan namin ni Martha? Tsk. Tsismoso.
