Chapter 24

Tris' POV

He leads me outside of the pier with everyone trailing behind. He explains how we are going to a park not even five minutes away from here. We spend those few minutes talking with each other while heading our way to the park.

"Sit." He instructs me when we reach the nearest tree. He finds a basket from behind the large tree, and takes a fleece blanket out of the basket. He gently lays it on the grass and plops down on top of it. "C'mere." He pats a spot next to him and I scoot closer to him.

It's around six when we get to the park, so the sun should be setting in an hour or so. He then takes out a rather large thermos and a plastic plates and utensils. He slowly unravels the lid of the thermos and elegantly dumps spaghetti onto the two plates. After, he takes another thermos out and two cups.

His eyebrows are furrowed and his lips are squeezed in a thin line as he pours the drink into the cups. He looks so adorable the way his face is set as he does so.

"Here." He hands me the food and I smile up at him.

"Thank you." He responds with the stupid smirk of his and gets his backpack. Tobias pulls out his laptop and places it on his lap.

"I downloaded the movie The Lion King—"

"Oh! I love that movie!" I squeal while bouncing up and down.

He rolls his eyes at my giddiness. "Good."

We spend thirty minutes  cuddled up beneath the tree watching the movie The Lion King. At one point, I end up crying because everytime I watch it, I get real emotional especially when his dad dies. I bury my head when Simba's father dies under Tobias' arm and sniff.

"You okay?"

"No."

He pulls back. "What's wrong?"

"He died." I shake my head. "I'm so sad now."

He laughs, "oh Tris. My beautiful Tris." He sets his laptop in front of him and pauses the movie.

"What are you doing?" I ask him as he repositions himself.

"Sush will you? He takes a thin, rectangular box out of the inside of his jacket pocket and slowly reveals it.

"Tobias—" I start.

He silences me with a finger to my lips. "I saw this the other day and couldn't stop thinking about you when I did. It's beautiful isn't it?" I my eyes stare into the small diamond wrapped around with shiny silver. "The diamond symbolizes purity and innocence and the silver represents magic and curing everything wherever it goes."

I laugh. "I thought silver meant—"

"Tris, I'm speaking. Can you just? Just, just no...no." He shakes his head while slightly smiling. The takes the necklace from the golden coloured box and unclips the chain. The stands on his knees so he can have a better access of putting it around my neck. And when he does, he takes his time re-clipping it on together. The cool metals feels cold against my skin and I shiver. But it's not the necklace that makes me shiver, his fingers slowly (exaggeratedly slow) slide up my neck to tuck a strand of hair behind my ear. His eyes burn into mine the whole time.

"You didn't have to do all this for me, you know." I rest my forehead against his as I break the silence that has sudden came throughout the park.

"I know, but I wanted to." His eyes are closed shut. He's practically breathing the same air as me.

"I love you. Gosh, I love you so much." His mouth capture mines, and we are one.

I never thought I'd fall for my best friend. He was just...there when I needed him. He was always there when I needed him, and I'm glad he is. He pulls me close against him. I can feel the rhythm of his heart, and it is beating quite fast. I smile a little.

"I love you too." He tells me as we break apart.

He drops me home later that night. It's around eight thirty when I arrive home. The last few hours we were at the park we spent laying down at listing all the constellations that we knew.

He's going to be the death of me.

I find a few flower petals that lay on the floor gradually increasing in quantity as I get closer and closer to my room.

When I open the door to my room, the whole floor is covered with red. Roses. My face breaks into a grin when I look at my bed. There sits two large hearts made of roses in the center of my bed. And in the middle of the two hearts is a box of chocolate with a note on it.

Tris—

Surprise. I love you, Tris Prior.

~TE

A/N: Tris' surprise was the necklace and rose petals. I'm sorry if you thought that was lame. I'm really excited because I will being going to Disneyland on Thursday for a band trip. It's my second time going with the band and my last. Anyways, super short chapter, I'm sorry about that, but it will get longer, I promise. I want to shoutout @maurcharlotte for helping me with ideas for the story (I told her this, but I'm going to say it again. Thank you!). I'm really pumped and stressed at the same time beause I have two big tests tomorrow and a lot of homework, but that's fine. I'll get through it. Anyways, thank you and will see you next week. Bye!
