"Okay so what's the game plan?" I asked.

We were back at Scoops Ahoy the very next day. We had figured out that the transmission had come from Hawkins, specifically Starcourt mall because of the music, we had to keep an eye out for the Russians and de-code what the message was.

"Well, I brought a pair of my binoculars, so one person can come with me and we can go scouting for Russians." Dustin suggested.

"Good idea, Henderson, I'll come with you." Steve agreed.

"Well, I need to stay back and working on figuring out the code to this message." Robin said.

"I can join you and help you out." I added to Robin.

"Actually, Henderson, I'll stay back and help too. There's only one pair of binoculars anyways. You can go scouting." Steve changed his mind.

"Oh okay then, Steve you can help Robin and I'll accompany my cousin so he won't feel lonely." I altered the plan.

"Well, I guess six eyes are better than four when it comes to observing, so I'll come with you Dustin." Steve rubbed the back of his neck.

"I'm trying to split us up evenly, Steve, make up your mind." I crossed my arms.

"He wants to go where you go, it's a simple as that." Robin sighed looking at me. "Look, I just need some quiet time to listen to the recording, I don't need anyone else's help in solving it. You three can go find the Russian." As she talked, Robin pushed us all out of the back room.

We were now in the main part of the mall, and despite the noise around us, there was some silence between the three of us.

"Uh..." Steve looked at me. "What Robin was saying about me trying to follow you, that's not the case at all." He assured me. "I was just... trying to see where my skill set was best utilized."

I blinked a few times, trying to think how I would respond to that.

"Right..." I nodded my head slowly.

"You know what's not in your skill set? Lying." Dustin snapped at Steve. "Now c'mon you guys."

Dustin rolled his eyes and asked us to follow him. Steve and I looked at each other, but I had no more to say than he did. It seemed like there was something on his mind and he wanted to tell me, but he decided against it.

So, we both followed Dustin deep into the mall. There were always huge crowds here whenever I came. There was never a day that I saw devoid of warm bodies in the mall.

"Aren't people going to think it's weird if we stare at them through binoculars?" I asked. There were a lot of people around.

"Let's find a discreet location then." Dustin said.

"How about behind those plants." Steve pointed to fake foliage near the center of the mall.

"That so stupid-" Dustin started to say.

"Perfect." I interrupted him and started walking towards it. No one disagreed with me so we went over and hid behind the plants, sitting down so that barely our heads popped up over the leaves. Dustin was in the middle with the binoculars around his neck. Steve and I were on either side of him.

"Who wants to use these first?" Dustin held up the binoculars.

"Give them to me." Steve took them from his hand, but the strap was still around Dustin's neck so he winced as he was pulled towards Steve.
