I missed a ball
and
you missed a ball
I hit one
and
you let it drop
we couldn't agree; was it
you
or
me
that was bad at the game?
which one of u s was to blame?
that game ended because
w e
were exhausted from fighting
a tie at nothing
w e
both scored nothing
and a tie was cut when
I left the court in tears
and
you left the court in tears
w e
left that ball out in the rain
the court soaked, dried, soaked, and dried again
as I sobbed to my pillow
and
you wept to your ceiling
and the weather reflected those feelings
just as that puddle reflected
my tears that day
as
you watched
me walk away
and it grew and flooded and it overflowed
and so
I drowned in my ocean of tears
while
you drowned in your ocean of tears
not knowing those oceans would meet again
they met on those grounds
