a leaf drifts to the ground

landing with grace

perhaps

it has been carried on wings of wind

and soared for miles

before its adventure exhausted it

and is now laying down to rest

a gust passes through a field

each blade of wheat bending

the end of one toying with the next

perhaps

they are all fallen soldiers

and are holding on to each other

for comfort amidst gales of doubt

a snowflake flutters from the sky

blown gently through the mist

perhaps

it is a ballerina

dancing without care

lost in her own rhythm

a bud peeks out from the ground

a speck of colour

against grey slush

perhaps

it has seen the light

and braved the cold

to find the sun again

a bee flies to a bloom

to feed on nectar

perhaps

like the pollen stuck on its knees

sweet memories of spring

will stick in its mind

a wave rises to the baked shore

lapping at a child's feet

perhaps

it is inviting him to

the calm relief

found in its cool embrace

a ray of summer sun falls on a poet's face

prompting a smile

perhaps

it is reminding her

that there is joy to be found in life

if only one continues to live it
