You said it was for the best
But I wake up paralysed by fear
Blankets clutched to my chest
Face stained black with tearsYou left me alone
I was trying to cope
Then you called my sister's phone
Left me grasping at imagined hopeYou once told me I had your heart
And I gave you mine
But you pushed as apart
Took my heart; didn't leave it behindI'd rather not hear, "I love you"
If it's untrue — if there's nothing there to hold onto.
