I ran over to Ricky's mom's house right when he texted me that he had arrived for the weekend. I lived in Salt Lake for 15 years until I moved away last year to Chicago for my dad's job. I've known Ricky since preschool, and we've always been best friends. I haven't seen him in a few months, so I just kept running until I made it to the door and knocked on it like a crazy person.

His mom opened it and I saw Ricky standing behind her.

"Great to see you, Mrs. Bowen." I said with a quick smile as Ricky held out his arms and I jumped into them. He held me securely, he's gotten stronger since I last saw him. I held him tight as ever and ruffled his hair a little. I said, "oh, geez. I missed you so much, bro."

"Me too." He laughed gently and then sniffled.

He set me down gently and I said, "are you crying?" I said with a 'touched' face.

"I'm not, not crying." He laughed and sniffled again.

I giggled, "okay, so we totally got to do like a million things. And of course, you can come too mrs. Bowen because I don't want to take away from your 'Ricky' time."

She laughed, "thanks, y/n. But try to get him out of bed."

I furrowed my eyebrows at Ricky as he said, "...jet lag."

"Ricky, it's an hour difference." I laughed.

"That's what I said!" Mrs. Bowen laughed.

"Let's just go hang out in my room for a while, y/n."

"Okay." I smiled gently and followed him upstairs.

We got under a blue blanket and I said, "so the beast? My best friend is a theatre kid? Never expected that." I laughed a little.

"Yeah...yeah. It's fun."

"Good." I smiled. "So how's big red?" Ricky, Nini, Big Red, and I were best friends for the longest time. Nini kinda drifted away a little when she met Kourtney in middle school and then when Ricky and Nini dated in sophomore year but broke up after 6 months-she drifted away even more. Ricky and Nini got back together this year. I text Big Red quite a lot still (less than Ricky but still a lot) and I text Nini occasionally.

"He's doing good. Dating a girl named Ashlyn."

"Ah, yes. I've heard of the famous Ashlyn. I'm glad he has someone. He seems super into her from what I've heard."
