Chapter 13

It's the day.

Hapon na at kakatapos lang ng pairs category. Walang nakapasok sa representatives namin. Kinulang ng iilang punto sila Jas at partner niya, sila Lia rin. Sayang, magkasunod pa naman placing nila. Sila Jas ay top 12, sila Lia naman ay top 13.

They were sad of course. They lost, sino ba namang hindi malulungkot do'n? But they didn't dwell much on it since hindi lang naman daw sila ang skaters na napili to represent Everette.

When I heard about it, the nervousness I felt heightened. I was so pressured to do my very best. Naisip ko tuloy na baka magalit sila if ever 'di ako makapasok. Like I said before, this is not my first competition, heck! I've competed in the same competition years ago! But even if I have done this a lot of times already, the pre-competition jitters never goes away.

At iba rin ngayon... I really want to get in the finals and win the gold. I really want to make my parents proud. I want to receive flowers or even just a simple hug from them. I really want to win for them... baka sakaling maranasan ko pa ano feeling magkaro'n ng present parents if ever.

We have 30 minutes left before the program starts. At 'pag minalas nga naman, ako ang pinaka last performer sa category namin.

Ashley and I are already dressed up in our short skate costume. She's wearing nude tights over her lilac purple costume while I'm wearing black tights over my black costume. We're covering our costumes with our team jackets.

Medyo edgy and flirty dating ng short skate routine ko, that's why my costume consists of mesh long sleeves and a backless cut. The cut even drifts toward my side, medyo kita ang left rib cage ko. It's all shimmery especially when the light hits it. The bloody red shade lipstick I have on, finishes my look.

We are in our designated dressing room, doing last minute retouch and last minute warm ups. I was busy doing splits with my earphones on when I heard a notification sound. I checked it and saw a message from Julia.

Bakla!!! Nakaupo na kami ni Sol. Gluck sa'yo!!!

I laughed at her text. I can't thank the Lord enough for giving me the best set of friends.

Even though I'm nervous, I can feel the excitement coursing through my veins. After kasi nung dinner with the Santos's family, pagkahatid sa'kin ni Lukas, naabutan ko sila mommy sa bahay. They told me they will watch my competition since they took a leave for it.

It's been awhile since they watched me perform and I can't wait to show them all the hard work I did. I really hope I make it in!

"Okay girls! Gather around!" I heard coach Ezra clap together with the other coaches. We are formed in a circle facing each other. "Today is the day. Remember... no matter the outcome... I'm proud of the both of you." She smiled at me and Ashley. I couldn't help but smile back. Nakakapanibago talaga ang environment dito sa Everette, ang bait ng mga coach at hindi kami pinepressure manalo. Mas pinipili nilang mag-enjoy kami.

After we said our prayers, we went out in the hallway where the competitors will stay while waiting for their turn. Nakipagusap pa kami sa iba naming kalaban, ang bait ng iba at nagtatawanan pa kami. We even sent each others Instagram accounts para makapagusap pa rin kami after the competition.

I'm standing by the sidelines, after ng nagpeperform, ako na ang susunod. Magkalayo agwat namin ni Ash, sa may bandang gitna kasi siya at ako naman pinakadulo. I can see the scores of the other contestants in the scoreboard above. 16th place si Ash, kailangan niyang galingan sa free skate niya para makapasok siya sa top 10.
