Who wrote the rules and meaning of life? This endless cycle of hurt is it meaningless or does it actually have a purpose?

"Melanie there you go daydreaming again." So annoying can't people allow me to think? I looked over at my friend.

"Huh? Sorry, what was that again Emantha?" I am positive that my expression mirror exactly how annoyed I felt.

"I was just asking if you saw what happened with Jameal parents?"

"Yes I have heard rumors but I'm not entirely certain" Em is that type of girl who knows everyone's business, acts invincible, and those types of people you don't want around you for too long but she is a sweet girl at heart, closes thing I have to a best friend, to be honest.

"Well his parents met in an accident on the North-south highway, It is pretty severe." She said calmly. I was not close to Jameal but he was a cool dude, I really hope his family makes it through.

Feeling the wind flying across my face, I close my eyes hoping to preserve this moment a little longer but that wish fell along with my IPhone.

"Damn!" I look down at my iPhone finding cracks all over it. I wanted to be angry but for some reason, I wasn't. I slide the phone into my pocket and began walking home.

"I would be furious" I looked over at Emantha and smiled. "The truth is in life you can't undo anything, just learn to accept it and move on. My phone fell and broke, getting angry, cursing, and being all grumpy ain't gon fix it." Ignoring her judging and confused stares I decided to take in my surroundings as we walk home. Trees surrounded us with huge houses on the hills on both sides. Jamaica is truly a beautiful place. As we walk down the hill I could feel the stones digging into the bottom of my sandals but we were used to the rocky road so it didn't bother us.

Em and I parted as we head to our different homes.

"Hey Mom, I brought you your favourites." her face lit up upon seeing the roses I brought home along with pistachios.

"Oh Lanie you didn't have to." but I knew she wanted those more than anything. Mainly because she loves those nuts and the roses in the living room were dried up. I am not blind but anything to put a smile on her face..

The floor is spotless and shining as always I decided to not hold onto the rails anyway as I climb the stairs to the second floor. As I step through the brown wooden doors the smell of lavender and grey walls welcomes me. My room is pretty big, my desk, chester drawers, queen-size bed, walk-in closet, two bedside tables, and a lot of space to walk and do as I please. I am sure gonna miss this.

I plugged in my phone and went for a bath. Hopefully, tomorrow is a lot more fun.

Why do people migrate? Most kids would jump for joy to leave their homes but I, on the other hand, don't wanna.

"CAP!!!" I screamed. I can not wait to leave this place. I love my parents and siblings but I am tired of seeing the same people for my entire life, imma miss them but imma miss my room and bed more. Sorry! The disadvantage is that my brother Hadrian and Arrieala my sister are both tagging along, twins to be exact.

We continue packing the suitcases into the car trying to avoid the stares of the people. Now I understand why when people move or travel they keep everything to themselves. Not everyone wishes you well even when they have the purest of smiles reaching their ears, their thoughts hold nothing but jealousy and bad wishes. Badmind! "It's time for you children to go explore and experience things we never did, while your mother and I vacate and enjoy life." Dad said as he hold us with glassy eyes. It is the first time I have ever seen my dad cry, men are so stubborn and stuck up, never showing emotions because doing so is not manly. Honestly, it is more suffocating and toxic.

"Lanie I swear imma come to visit you girl, once I get my VISA, but don't you go and forget me." Yup that is Emantha for you. She really knows how to make a situation better.

Looking at her, all I could do was smile "I know you will but you know I will never forget you because who will spill the tea to me?" We said our goodbyes and started the journey to the airport.

The twins were awfully quiet throughout the ride and I just know that they are thinking about the flight. Looking down at my eighteen-year-old siblings I just gave them a smile hoping it is somewhat comforting.

The Caribbean ocean came into view with rocks stacked up on the opposite side of the road, the wind blowing the hair into my face. That used to be irritating but at this moment it is far from that. The smell of the salted water hit my nose even stronger as we drove further. Trees stood tall on both sides of the road dancing to the riddim of our culture reminding us of our country we so will miss. Welcome to 'The Norman Manley International Airport' the sign read informing us that we are at our destination. We will miss this island we love but we will learn to adapt and live in a foreign country where opportunity lies. I might just meet a guy, maybe not but who knows.
