Chapter 11: Blood in the Water Part 1

You walked around the village. It was small. It was at the edge of a lake and the sunset was beautiful. There was a waterfall that poured into the lake and the trees were plentiful. If there aren't any demons around, this would be a nice getaway.

Y/n: Ikari. Is this it?

Ikari: Sure is. Now find out what this illness is and why there's barely any food.

Ikari flew off and you sighed.

Y/n: It would sure be nice to have a partner helping me.

You walked forward and saw people lying dead on the road. This disease, it was horrible. You looked around but nothing looked out of the ordinary, except for the disease. You walked near a body and the sight almost made you throw up. You saw a man walking down the street.

Y/n: Excuse me, sir. Do you know where the village chief lives?

The man was silent.

Man: You're not from here. First time, I bet. If you're looking for that guy, he lives in that luxurious palace.

The man pointed to a massive house near the lake. How did you not notice it before?

Y/n: Thank you.

The man looked like he wanted to say something but he didn't.

You walked to the chief's house and knocked. Nothing. You knocked again. Still nothing. What's going on? You knocked and waited for a full 5 minutes. You turned around and walked away. You saw the house as built next to the cliff that held the waterfall. You saw an open window. You ran around and up the hill. With a heart full of hop and a life full of dumb luck, you jumped. You made it through the open window and stuck the landing. You stood up.

Y/n: Perfect landing.

You heard a noise and slowly turned around. There was a girl in the room. She was about to say something but you heard footsteps. The door opened and the guy looked around.

???: Mitsuko, what was that noise?

Mitsuko: I fell.

???: Are you sure?

Mitsuko: I'm pretty sure I'd know when I'd fall.

???: Alright then.

The guy closed the door and Mitsuko looked up. You dropped from the ceiling. You sighed and wiped your brow. You looked over at Mitsuko.

Y/n: Hey.

Mitsuko: Hey.

You looked at her and looked at the door, then back at her.

Y/n: Thanks for not ratting on me.

Mitsuko: Yeah. Are you a real Demon Slayer?

You looked down at your sword.

Y/n: Yeah. I'm here on official Demon Slayer business.

Mitsuko: Which includes trespassing on people's property?

Y/n: I was knocking before. Why didn't anyone answer?

Mitsuko: My father never opens the door.

Y/n: So why didn't you?

Mitsuko: I'm not allowed to leave this room.

Y/n: What? Why?

Mitsuko: Father says the outside world is dangerous.

Y/n: You didn't seem all that shocked about me trespassing.

Mitsuko: You don't look dangerous.

Y/n: I'll choose to take that as a compliment. Now, what do you know about the demon?

Mitsuko. Only that he's been making everyone sick.

Y/n: Yeah. Do you have any idea where it is?

Mitsuko: All I know is that he's dangerous.

Y/n: I-

You both heard footsteps. Her father walked in.

???: I heard talking. Where is he?

Mitsuko: I talk to myself.

???: Don't bullshit me. I know he's here.

The man searched under her bed, in the closet, behind the dresser, and even the bed sheets.

Mitsuko: You told me that people are dangerous. Why would I talk to them?

The man sighed.

???: If I find that there's something going on, you know what happens.

The man turned around and closed the door. You slowly let go of the ceiling but he quickly reopened the door. You grip was slipping.

???: You better not be lying. I got some stuff to do.

He looked around the room for a couple seconds but he closed the door. You dropped and freaked out.

Y/n in thoughts: Dang. This guy might as well be a demon.

Mitsuko: Quick. You must leave.

Y/n: Yeah. That's the plan.

Mitsuko: Please be careful.

This caught you off guard and you looked at her.

Y/n: Of course I'll be careful.

You looked down at the drop then looked at her.

Y/n: See ya later.

You dropped from the window and landed. You waved at Mitsuko and she waved back.

Y/n in thoughts: There's something shady going on with Mitsuko's father, but now's not the time for that. This demon has devastated this community. Pretty soon there will be nothing left. If you don't catch him soon... Now's not the time for worst case senario. I gotta find this guy.

The sun was setting and it would be dark pretty soon.

Y/n: It's getting late. And I'm pretty hungry. Better get some dinner.
