Insanity. That was the only word she could use to describe this situation.
She stared in horror through the glass, watching the scene unfold in safety. Her hand drifted up to her mouth, "why..."
Mori wore a wicked smile on his face and offered no response.
"Mori-dono...?" The pink haired Mafia executive watched the boss' reflection in the glass.
He watched the massacre take place with a sadistic look, "it's called an experiment. Control over one's skill is not so easily attained."
"But-"
Someone coughed as the door closed. She turned to see Akutagawa bowing, "excuse me..."
"Well?" Mori turned to the younger man.
Akutagawa approached and stood in between them silently.
"Mori-dono!" Kouyo could no longer hold her emotions in check, "we must-"
Mori chucked with a strange satisfaction in his voice. "You know what to do."
Kouyo frantically reached into her kimono, searching for her phone.

——

Dazai sighed as he leaned back in his chair, stretching his arms up. It was yet another boring, eventless day at the Armed Detective Agency.
Dazai had pushed all the work on Atsushi as usual, so his protege was off solving a case with Tanizaki.
Dazai was debating on how to bother Kunikida next when the phone rang.
"Hello!" Kenji said excitedly as he picked up the phone.
Dazai leaned towards Kunikida, a smirk splayed over his lips, "hey~ Kunikidaaa~"
"Not now, Dazai. I'm doing work. As you should be!" Kunikida snapped.
"Aww, but that's no fun!" Dazai whined.
"Dazai?" Kenji asked his attention, a big smile on his face, "phone's for you," he held out the phone.
"For me? Who is it?" Dazai took it, beginning to smile.
"I dunno," he shrugged, "a girl, tho," he skipped back over to his desk.
Dazai shrugged and placed the phone to his ear, wondering which woman was going to cry to him next. "Dazai speaking," he sang as he leaned back in his chair again.
Normally he would have taken great delight in the situation, had it been anyone else on the phone with any other tone in their voice. Her voice was strained and Dazai knew something was terribly wrong from her first word.
"Please-"
Dazai sat up almost involuntarily. The Angency went quiet after Dazai's feet thudded dully against the floor. Even Kunikida stopped what he was doing to look over.
He was met with the sight of Dazai paralyzed in what seemed to be fear.
"Please," Kouyo choked out, "you have to-" she sounded like she was about to cry as she quickly blurted out an address.
Dazai instantly stood up, his coat rustling loudly as he slipped the sleeves on. He didn't know exactly what the situation was, but if Kouyo called him and sounded this distraught, he could only imagine the worst.
"Dazai," Kunikida stood, looking concerned, "who is it?"
Dazai put the phone down, "I'm turning in early today." He plastered his usual, carefree smile on his face.
Kunikida sighed, "I keep telling you to stop playing with women's feelings." He continued in a mutter, "now you have to go fix your mistakes..."
Dazai, having caught Kunikida's words could only whisper in response for no one to hear, "if only it were that..."

——

Akutagawa had never seen it himself and was a little surprised by how gruesome it was. Compared to his skill- no, Rashomon couldn't possibly compare to whatever that was.
"H-he's on his way..." Kouyo stuttered in a hushed voice.
"Dazai-San is?..."
Kouyo nodded, "no one else could possibly..."
She didn't finish and Akutagawa was left to wonder what her full sentence could have been.
Kouyo looked back through the glass, then looked away covering her mouth again.
Akutagawa lacked the empathy to understand how she felt, but even he was left speechless at the sight.
"I'll be on my way, now that we have our savior coming," Mori turned to the door, "tell him "hello" for me, won't you, Akutagawa?"
"Yes..." he said slowly, looking at his boss' blurry reflection.
Mori's hands were clasped behind his back tightly, as if he were irritated but his face held nothing but a faint smirk from Kouyo's perspective.
"How could you leave?! You created this problem and you won't stay to see it fixed?! He-"
"I trust Dazai. And more importantly, I trust you." Mori turned his head to her, a somewhat sad smile had replaced his awfull expression, "I know you'll do what's best." He started to leave.
"Why?... why did you even..."
Mori continued out as if she weren't speaking. The door closed silently behind him.
The room was soundless.
Until Akutagawa coughed quietly into his hand and backed away from the glass. He then carefully pressed down on a button in the middle of the control panel.
The quiet buzz of feedback was heard as the microphone in the adjoining room opened. The disgusting sound of dripping was amplified into the small room.
Kouyo crumpled to the ground, but Akutagawa did his best to ignore her.
There was silence from the six remaining men in the other room. They had learned better than to so much as breathe too loudly. Lucky for them, the beast didn't have the best senses.
One of them slightly shifted their weight, but only enough for Akutagawa to notice it. The monster in the middle of the room, constrained in heavy metal bindings that seemed far too loose, didn't look like it noticed. It didn't even seem to be able to see at all, it had no pupils in its dead, white eyes.
Akutagawa listened to the silence, his finger still pressed down harshly on the controls.
The men were silent. The beast was silent. Akutagawa was silent.
The only sound was Kouyo shuffling occasionally and the dripping of blood from the monster's mouth.

——

Just then the door flew open.
Akutagawa whipped around, the quiet static sound disappearing. He opened his mouth to address the person he looked up to most, "Da-"
But Dazai rushed over to the glass, his hands pressed against it and his face was marred with concern. "How long?"
Kouyo slowly rose from the ground. She was shaking like a leaf.
"How long?!" Dazai tore his eyes away from the pile of bodies in the other room to face Akutagawa with a harsh expression.
Akutagawa tried to force his throat to speak, his mouth to form words, but he could not. He didn't know, anyways.
"Almost six hours..." Kouyo made her way over.
Dazai clenched his fists, "and you didn't think to-"
"I didn't even know until an hour ago! And then I called you after Mori-dono said I-"
"Let me make a call." Dazai insisted.
Kouyo stared at him, bewildered.
Dazai held out his hand.
Kouyo carefully placed the phone in Dazai's grasp.
He deftly typed in a number.
Akutagawa stared at Dazai. He'd never seen him so concerned or hasty. He looked back into the other room.
Another one was dead.
Lying on the ground, his metal pole with the thick C shape at the end was holding the beast's neck away but it wasn't enough to keep the monster's hands from unleashing the ability to completely desecrate his body.
Akutagawa watched in silence as that thing tore apart the mafioso's being completely, as if he were a chew toy to a dog. And the whole time, that beast looked pleased.
