Alhaitham was at work, and you were still stuck in his house. But there was one important thing that you had forgotten about. You were spending all your time with Alhaitham, and that major decision you had to make slipped your mind.
"So, what's your choice?" Childe asked, he had his arms crossed and was standing in front of you.
"It's not like I had one in the first place." You sighed, "Where are we going to go?"
"It'll be a long one but we're going to Snezhnaya."
"None of my friends will get hurt if I do this, correct?" You asked before proceeding.
"Mhm, I think it's best if we go now. You'll also need proper attire but for now when we get closer you can just use my coat." He smiled, but you never really forgave him. That smile made you want to punch him even more.
"Thanks I guess." You were still unsure about this but as long as no one got hurt, right?
Then your journey to Snezhnaya began and you were nervous, you felt like you wouldn't even belong there. No, you knew you didn't belong there. If you had just never ran into Childe while going to Port Ormos, would things have gone as things are going right now? You wondered if skipping work that one day actually affected your life tremendously. Maybe if you hadn't fallen for Alhaitham when you first saw him, things would be different.
You blame yourself for all of your misfortune, but was it really your fault?
"Will I ever be able to return to my normal life after this?" You asked him, but joining the Fatui was a big deal nobody would ever see you the same again. It was just a rumor before but now, it has become a reality.
"Most likely not. As I see it, once you join you can never really return to what you call a 'normal life'.
This shattered your heart, would you ever see Alhaitham again, or go into any city without being feared?
"Oh, anyway where am I going to stay? I don't exactly have enough mora to get a house."
"Don't worry about that, they'll do something about that when you get there." He put his arm around you and looked at you. Even after everything he did to you he's still friendly towards you. You found this strange but at least he didn't hate you as much as you hated him right now.
"Why are you acting so nice to me?" You were genuinely confused, you honestly thought he did hate you due to past circumstances.
"We're going to be working together, are we not?"
"Yeah I guess so." Your mood was still at a low, you just wanted to be with Alhaitham again. It was an unusual feeling. I mean, you've only known him for a week and half. Which was a strange way to put it but that was besides the point. You didn't believe in love at first sight until you saw him.
"You're thinking of him aren't you?" He turned to look at you.
"How did you know?" A surprised expression appeared on your face.
"You're blushing, and I've known you long enough to know when you're daydreaming about someone you like." He laughed in a playful way, you still couldn't forgive him though.
"Well that's embarrassing for me," you awkwardly smiled, now the both of you were looking at each other.
You continued talking to Childe while the both of you walked to Snezhnaya. You assumed it would take at least seven hours to get there, so it would just be a one day trip.
6 hours later
"It's getting colder, are you sure you're not cold?" He asked after offering his coat to you.
"Yeah I'm fine." You didn't want his help, you just wanted to get there, and hopefully avoid him for as long as you could. Maybe you could forgive him eventually but not today
"Y/n, you're shaking." He sighed, "Here just take it." He put his coat around your shoulder, you stayed silent while looking at him.
"Fine, thank you." Eventually you got the courage to at least be somewhat nice to him.
"Anyway, we should almost be there, maybe a few thirty minutes left." No wonder it was already freezing, the both of you were already in Snezhnaya. You presumed you were just going to the headquarters now, and there it was that nervous feeling again.
"Don't worry, he's the one who invited you. You're not coming unannounced or anything." He reassured you.
"Yeah you're right." And soon those thirty minutes went by and Childe led you inside the building.
"Just follow me." He whispered to you. You simply nodded and followed closely behind him. All you could hear were your shoe steps on the cold floor, it was so quiet. You both entered a big room, and there they were, and you were panicking now.
"I see you made the right choice." You looked up and saw a man with a mask covering the over half of his face. His gaze was cold, it made you shiver even more than you were before. Childe nudged you with his elbow silently telling you to go closer. You walked closer, probably a few 4 inches away from the man now.
"I already know your name, so I might as well introduce myself." He cleared his throat, "My name is Pierro, but my code name is 'The Jester'," You assumed he was the very first member of the Fatui, which would make sense.
"Why?" You asked with a stern look, "Why did you want me to join the Fatui?"
"You don't know why? Try and take a guess." He responded. You thought about it for a few seconds. Your life wasn't that extravagant, so why you?
"I don't know.." You replied honestly, you were eager to know why though.
"So, you may be familiar with a Gnosis, correct?"
"Yes, what about it?" You weren't catching on, you tried thinking harder about it.
"And how the Akademiya is technically a type of government system for Sumeru?" His frown turned into an evil smirk as he saw your face of realisation.
"You want me to collect information on where the Gnosis may be? But how-" Then it clicked. They knew how you had gotten close to Alhaitham in the span of just a few weeks, that was it. You connected all the puzzle pieces together and that was your first mission.
"It seems like you have already caught on, I would like you to meet the people you'll be working with. Although I'd like your first mission to be a solo one." You looked around but you only counted six people.
You wondered where the rest of them could be but that didn't concern you right now.
