It was late at night, you had woken up in Alhaitham's bed right next to him. You slowly got up to not wake him and made our way to the door and left while quietly closing it. Steadily making your way to the room you were strictly warned not to enter, your hand met with the cold doorknob. Damn it's locked you thought to yourself, where could the key be?

Then you remembered where it could be, but that would be too risky right now. You had another option though, you could pick the lock. You took the bobby pin out of your pocket trying to not make much noise while unlocking the door. Then you tried opening it again, and it worked. You just had one last thing to do, find the information.

You had a feeling of guilt while looking through the files and felt something bad was going to happen sooner or later. While reading through one of the documents, you found what you were looking for.

"And what might you be doing here?" Alhaitham was looking straight at you. Trying to think of an excuse you panicked.

"I was–" how could you ever explain this? "Looking for something that slipped under the door?" Even you could admit that your excuse was horrible.

"After everything I did for you? After I told you not to go in here, why?" You hated how disappointed he was in you right now, no you hated yourself in this very moment.

"I'm sorry." Now you were disappointed in yourself.

"Those are important documents, if the Akademiya found out you looked through then you'd actually be a wanted criminal this time." He sighed. "If you could just tell me why you're in here, truthfully this time, maybe then I'll forgive you."

If he knew the truth he wouldn't forgive you, and you knew that. "I just wanted to know what was in here," Obviously he didn't believe you because he had already told you he was in this room before. Then he walked closer to you.

"I could call the Akademiya right now if you want." He tilted his head still staring at you. All you could think of was how attractive he looked right now. This was distracting you from the main problem.

"No no– don't do that." You looked around the room nervously.

"You're cute when you're nervous." He then smirked at you which made you look right back at him after he said that.

"What?" The mood suddenly switched. All of a sudden, he kissed you. But then you saw him click something on his Akasha terminal right after. You presumed only people of the Akademiya could do that, but ultimately you brushed it off to enjoy the moment and closed your eyes. You messily folded the documents and put them in your pocket.

"You should go to bed, it's late." His demeanor seemed off.

"What about you?" Everything worked as planned except for a few minor things, but that one part of you still felt that same sense of guilt as earlier.

"Worry about yourself more, now go." He appeared irritated at you now, which made you feel even worse so you just left and put the information in your bag. You couldn't fall asleep though, that was the problem now. All of a sudden you heard Alhaitham talking with four other people. If you differentiated their voices correctly, that's what you assumed. Then you got up to see what was going on and listened in on the conversation.

"So they looked through the documents?" Voice one said understanding the situation.

"Yes but it was strange, they wouldn't give me an exact reason for looking through them." You heard Alhaitham say.

"Why are they in your house anyway?" Voice three questioned.

"They're probably together or something." Voice two answered voice three.

"We aren't together, they just decided to stay here." Your heart broke in that very instant, you wondered if those two kisses even meant anything to him. You opened the door and realised those three voices were people from the Akademiya from their uniforms.

"So does 'I love you' really mean nothing to you?" You weren't about to cry but it felt like it.

"Y/n, I told you to sleep." He avoided the question. "I guess that doesn't matter now, you're going to be questioned by a few people now anyway."

"You told them?" What was going on, and why was he doing this?

"I had too, I didn't have a choice." This wasn't the Alhaitham you first met, he seemed like a completely different person now.

"They were right about you." You should have just listened to Tighnari all of those days ago. "Just answer my first question."

"No, people were right about you." He quickly said after.

"What do you mean?" Fear filled your body right after he said that.

"The rumors of you being a part of the Fatui." He laughed slightly, but the one thing on your mind was how did he find out? "But it was true, I did love you." You messed it all up now, you had been caught and now this?

"You actually loved me?" Your expression changed, you were now in disbelief because of that minor key word, 'did'. The sentence replayed in your mind.

"Yes, but you know I could never be with someone a part of such a cruel corporation." He turned away from you, in your mind that sound hypocritical of him to say, but what did you really know?

"I did this to save you and my friends. I didn't have a choice!" You quickly exclaimed.

"Fine then, explain." He crossed his arms, turning his gaze to you once again.

"I was threatened to join the Fatui, I didn't want to, but anyone close to me would be in danger." You sighed, "I didn't want this."

"Do you think we should leave?" Voice two whispered to Voice three.

"No this is getting interesting," Voice 3 whispered back to Voice two.

"You may also be wondering, I know this, I have security cameras just for similar situations like this one." He then signaled the three people a part of the Akdemiya to wait outside. "And answering on what you just said, sure you may feel like you did something good, but I assure you what you've done for yourself isn't close to good.

No matter how many times you told him it wasn't your choice the more he just ignored you. Now your life had been completely ruined and you had to leave immediately.

"You should change before leaving. I'll only give you a few minutes." You didn't say a word to him and shut the door. You however, had a plan to get out of this. After you changed into the original clothes you arrived in, you grabbed your bag and opened the window. You quickly jumped out and started running as far away as you could.

"Y/n?" Alhaitham opened the door "Damn you." He then alerted the others but you were far gone into the forest. Luckily they didn't have time to alert any of the civilians so you were safe without hiding your identity for the time being.

Your mission was complete but at what cost? At least no one got hurt, except you.

A/N: This was the only chapter I wrote without getting completely distracted by other things instead of writing it I don't think the angst is that bad but I still loved writing it, anyway I have to take a break now or smth 😟
