So...here's Chapter One for you!

DISCLAIMER: Sadly, I do not own the Percy Jackson or Harry Potter series. *sighs*

The voice woke him more than the words did.

Let's make some changes, shall we?

He sat upright on his bed, eyes wide as if Jason just shook him with one of his bolts. Nico was a light-sleeper. Even slightest hint of movement could always wake him up unless he was just from one of his shadow travels in just a hundred miles. Then he would be sleeping like the dead and nothing would have been able to wake him up. But this...he knew he wouldn't have been able to sleep around it if he tried.

He heard that voice before. The last time it was echoing, loud and was threatening his life. This one was quiet, almost inaudible and sounded deadlier than a knife but he knew it was the same. And there was something about it that made his skin crawl. That voice brought nothing but trouble.

Silently, he slid off his bed and crept towards the window to peek out.

Camp Half-Blood was quiet unlike he'd heard before. Every light as extinguished from the inside and the only sound he could hear was the sound of the wind blowing outside. There was no one outside. The bearer of the voice was gone but he could feel her somewhere. When one's been through two wars, one learns some tricks that distinguishes past enemies from unknown ones. The only problem with this one was that Nico knew that it was a past enemy, the only problem was that he didn't know which one.

He knew that whoever it was, it was still around, somewhere.

He focused his sight outside, right along the edges of the woods long after his eyes adjusted to the darkness but he saw no one. It was so dark outside that he doubted even the Hunters would have seen whoever it was if it was still outside the cabins. He doubted it.

He slumped back to bed after a few more minutes of unofficial stake-out. That was probably just his paranoia showing...and he didn't usually have paranoia. He put an arm over his eyes to try to black whatever little light that his hellfire torches gave out. He wanted to black out again but he knew he wasn't going away that easily. Something was going to happen, he was sure of it. But he just laid back and tried to sleep.

For what seemed like hours, nothing happened. His brain was in overdrive thinking about who might have spoke the words. The changes part didn't assure him a lot., but his eyes started to droop and he almost slipped away into unconsciousness when it happened.

He sensed it before he felt it.

He was up on his feet when the ground started to shake violently just causing him to be a heap on the floor of his cabin. The earthquake was tremendous, shaking his cabin hard making it look as if it was on the verge of collapsing on top of him. He grabbed the posts of his four-posters bed and tried to get balance himself up. He eyed the ground warily, imagining the earth to open up and suck him into a dark, bottomless-but-not-so-bottomless pit that was the source of his nightmares ever since he got out of it.

He dove for cover on his bed when some loose things in the cabin started to fall to the floor and shatter. He tried to calm himself down and wait the shaking out. His legs were too wobbly to hold him if he tried to make it outside the door where most of the campers were already were, yelling, screaming or crying. If he tried, he would be just another broken mess along with his other stuff.

It took a whole five minutes for the earthquake to stop. It took Nico another whole more minute before he managed to struggle outside his cabin.

The whole camp was complete chaos. Most of the younger campers were sprawled on the ground and crying while the senior counsellors were trying to gather them up and herd them back to their cabins - if their cabins were in a good state, that is. Chiron was cantering down towards them, bow and arrow in hand as he inspected the damages and the campers. The Apollo kids were rounding up the injured (most of them unconscious from fainting) and dragging them over to the infirmary.
