Kongpob, sitting in front of his parents with teary eyes, could only look down at the cup of coffee that was in front of him. The older couple, with worried expressions, were talking to each other about what to do now that their son had rejected his partner.
"As if anything could be done now.."
His mind went back to the instant... to the very same moment in which he had told Mook that he was breaking his bond with her...
"It's better for us to break things off. There is no.. There's no point in even trying to solve this mess..."
Kong smiled sadly.
He had been so hurt...so frustrated to learn that Mook was in love with someone else...And, as much as she had told him that she wasn't, that it was something she had move on from...he hadn't believed her.
Her eyes... those beautiful eyes when she had been talking to that man... she had never looked at him like that so... He could even understand why he had been so sure that Mook would come back to him at the end. Also, with his feelings for Arthit and the existence of his second mark...there was no point in trying to fix anything.
In fact, he was even beginning to think that it had been that matter... Mook's feelings for that boy... what had caused that second gray line to appear on his skin.
And yet...
Now that he was thinking with a cooler head...he wasn't so sure he'd done the right thing. Mook was his partner, the one that had been designated for him... what if he didn't find that second person? What if... what if it didn't even exist?
And that's without taking into account his feelings for Arthit.
- "I'm gonna go crazy..."
His parents turned to him. However, not only did they say nothing, but they got back into their discussion.
They had been in that room for more than half an hour, talking about the matter... and they hadn't come to anything. The only thing they agreed on...and that was a surprise in itself...was that he had been too hasty in breaking their bond the way he had done it.
...
..
.
- "You should have told us what was happening before doing something like this. Breaking your bond... in this way... without even asking for advice at the temple..." - her mother muttered while, with a handkerchief, she tried to dry the few tears that still ran down her cheeks.
His father, on the other hand, grunted as he continued to walk around the room. Finally, after a few minutes, he turned to him imploringly.
- "But... Are you sure that there is nothing that can be done? That the bond has been completely broken?"
Kongpob nodded. He could still feel the sensation that it had left on his skin... that burn, that need to scratch it until it didn't hurt again... It was a sensation that he did not wish even on his worst enemy.
- "My poor child... what you must have suffered..."
His mother, with a sad expression, hugged him tightly... thus letting the boy hide his face between her breasts. Just like he had done when he was just a little boy with a toothache.
-"Woman, it's not a big deal... Kongpob will recover, he's not the first one nor will he be the last man to lose his bonded".
His mother, looking up at the older man, glared at him so much that his dad looked away, but not before letting out a small helpless sigh.
