MICHIGAN

the fall air was chilly.
the wind brushed against your skin.

you strided down the stone path in the central part of town. where all the stores were.

jack o' lanterns and spiders hung around the small town.
a bell rang as you and ajak walked into a blockbuster store.
a song played on the radio. 'spooky movie' by gary s paxton was playing.

"how can i help you ladies" the worker came out from behind the counter.

"we are looking for scary movies. you got any good ones?" ajak spoke, her thick, mexican accent making her voice so elegant.

"section c to your right. we've got all the hits" the worker smiled. you walked over to the section and began browsing.
rocky horror picture show,
texas chainsaw massacre,
the exorcist,
jaws,
halloween,
friday the 13th.

you name it.

you picked out rocky horror and texas chainsaw massacre and brought them over to the counter. reaching into the pockets of your jeans to find a quarter.
when you were unsuccessful to find one. you searched your jacket. checking the inside pockets.

"i'm waiting" the man impatiently said.

"yeah, yeah, one second" you huffed. and then an idea came to mind.

you flared a burst of fire from the back office, the man jumped and rushed to see what happened. so you grabbed the movies and ran out of the store, ajak right behind you.

the both of you laughed as you shut the door.

"i shouldn't encourage that. that was very bad" ajak scolded with a laugh.

"who cares. we run this world, the mortals owe us" you shrugged as you handed her the movies so she could see what you picked.

"okay, maybe you're right" she smiled, seeing as you picked her faves.

"see" you smiled widely. she rolled her eyes and nudged you. you nudged her back.

the both of you walked down the rest of the way home, where sprite was waited patiently.

"about time! what took you guys so long. the popcorn went cold" she huffed. you kicked off your converse and removed your jacket, leaving you in just your dark blue flannel, washed out jeans and your socks.

"there was a line" you shrugged. ajak smirked and sat down on the couch. sprite sat next to her and you put the first tape in the tv. allowing it to start playing.

you flopped down beside ajak and rested your head on her shoulder.

"my girls" she wrapped an arm around you and sprite. you smiled as you sighed.

halloween was a great idea. you loved it. who doesn't?
mortals created some pretty neat holidays.

this was going to be the best halloween ever.
