Hidden Spark on Earth II (TFP)

Chapter 2

Saphira sat in the kitchen, nibbling at the toast and eggs she had just made for herself while she thought about Optimus and Megatron. She knew that what she had said to Megatron just now might have made him think about things. She hoped he was indeed considering it. Saphira did not know what she would do if Optimus was killed...and she did not know what impact that would have on the unborn now growing within her body. She didn't want to ask Ratchet that question, but she did fear she would miscarry if that was a result. She shuddered at that very thought.

However, as she sat there, she felt Optimus's feelings reaching through to her. She widened her eyes in surprise and felt his confusion as he reached out to her. She wondered if he's decided to find out who she is, as she expected him to not remember her. 'I do not remember having a sparkmate. Though I feel this bond I have with you is strong. Who are you?'

Saphira felt so happy when she heard his voice, it sounded a lot less confident than what she was used to, but that didn't matter. 'I am Saphira. I am indeed your sparkmate. I miss you terribly. Where are you? You disappeared.'

Optimus seemed delighted to hear her voice, even though he was confused by how he was affected by her so quickly. Even if he did not remember who she was. 'I am on Megatron's ship. I...I had wondered if you were on here with me. But...I did not think you were. Megatron did not take me to see you.'

'That is because I am not on his ship, Op-err-Orion.' Saphira grimaced a little, knowing that calling him Optimus could confuse Orion due to him not remembering that part of himself. 'I am at the base, with the autobots.'

'What!' She flinched at his shocked response. 'Ratchet has you in his clutches?! This...this must have happened while I was in stasis!'

She sensed the fear and worry from Optimus, making her wonder what exactly Megatron had said to Optimus. 'Orion, I am in no danger. I am not sure what exactly Megatron has told you, but I assure you, Ratchet is not evil. He is a doctor, not a warrior.'

'I don't know if I can believe that after seeing the devastation Ratchet has caused to Cybertron,' Orion responded in a sad tone. 'Maybe it is you who is being confused, Saphira. I do not remember ever falling in love with a femme or another mech...and I do not remember bonding with you. But...the spark bond is strong, and I feel your love...'

'Orion, I am not a femme,' Saphira interrupts the mech gently, feeling his shock and surprise when she spoke to him. 'I am a human. You and I met several months ago, you took me in when I needed it most. You saved me from extinguishing my own life, and found a new purpose with you and the other autobots. You don't remember because something happened, and now you only know of yourself as Orion...' The confusion coming from Optimus did make Saphira's heart ache, but she was glad he was speaking to her. 'And maybe...you will never remember...but I would rather you know what has happened. I don't want you to believe whatever Megatron is telling you.'

He was silent, processing the words Saphira had just told him. It was clear that Optimus wanted to believe her, but he just did not know. 'My sparkmate...is a human? I...I never...wait, Megatron said the species of this world is not ready to know us...if you are my sparkmate, and you are a human...that means...he's lied to me...'

'I am sorry, Orion. You and Megatron were friends for so long...I imagine you are just as overwhelmed as I am right now. But know this, I have not stopped loving you.' Saphira sent pulses of love through the bond, and she felt a bit of happiness coming from Optimus when told she didn't stop loving him. 'And there is something else that I know you will want to be by my side for...something that I didn't expect, but I am excited and nervous about.'
