Hidden Spark on Earth II (TFP)

Chapter 11

Optimus arrived back at the base with Bulkhead, both with nothing to report regarding Mech. The two of them were disappointed that they could not find anything, however they have resolved to continue searching for signs of Mech by helping Ratchet. Breakdown and Bulkhead did shoot glares at each other a few times before Breakdown stopped and simply stood aside with Knockout. He and Knockout were given thanks from Optimus when they revealed how Breakdown was still trying to handle what happened to him while under Mech's hands and expressing the feelings to Bee. Optimus understands that it has affected Breakdown more than they had known and Bulkhead was actually surprised that Breakdown was thankful to him for saving his life.

Saphira was really worried about Bee. He had retreated to his room again and locked the door. It was really sad to see such a spirited bot brought so low. She and Raf tried to reach Bee, though they were advised by Optimus to give him time. It was not an easy thing for them two to follow, but they would wait in the lobby anyway.

It has been well over an hour now and they still were searching for Mech. Saphira worried they may never find them. She was sitting on a chair thinking about Mech. She wondered if they were part of the military at some point. They way they seemed to act was similar to the chain of command the US military without the rules. They had military grade vehicles and weapons, and the outfits that were worn by those who were under Silas give off the impression they are keeping their identities a secret. And that could mean they might still have spies among the military. It would explain how someone could find out about the t-cog in Cybertronians.

Optimus, who had been paying attention to the monitors, glanced at Saphira and saw the thought filled expression on her face. He walked closer to her with a gentle smile, knowing that she was probably very worried about Bee and Mech. "Saphira..." She turned her head to look at Optimus when he addressed her. "You seem to be deep in thought. Would you mind sharing what is on your mind?"

She shrugged a little. "I am...just thinking about how Mech operates, actually." He frowns slightly at her response. "To me, Mech comes across as a sophisticated, military organisation. One that is rogue...it makes me think if all the people who are in Mech are or were military members. And all of their weapons and vehicles...well, they are all military based. It has me thinking..."

Optimus processed her words carefully and understood what she was trying to say. "Do you believe that some of the members of Mech are still working with the military?" She nodded. "I suppose that will explain why all, but Silas, are wearing those strange clothes. Concealing their identity will not protect them if things go down hill."

"It was a choice they have made, Optimus," Saphira said softly as she thought about it. "When you choose the behaviour, you choose the consequence. That is what we get taught, or supposed to get taught, as a child. They have chosen to be a part of something that threatens this planet. I am not sure how someone can even sleep comfortably at night knowing they are a part of something like that."

Optimus did quite like the saying Saphira had said regarding behaviour and consequence, he had to agree with it. "I suppose it will depend what words Silas had said to these people to have them be loyal to him unquestionably. It would be not too different to Megatron gathering up decepticons for his cause. Of course, that has changed a little bit now..."

"A little bit?" Saphira looked at Optimus and sighed deeply. "Optimus, you have to admit that Megatron isn't doing too bad at regaining your trust. I don't see you and him being friends like you used to be for a long time. But I do see this truce working out. Especially since he's giving the Iacon items willingly and wanting to help with Mech."

Optimus listened to Saphira quietly and grimaced a little before responding. "I will admit that Megatron is doing things to show that he is trying, and I know he is helping to deal with Mech as they are a threat to you."
