Chapter 19

Meanwhile at the base...

Sometime after Optimus and Saphira left the base, Ratchet had to endure the sound of a guitar. Miko had set up her speakers to play and Knockout watched her with keen curiosity due to him wanting to play the instrument. Though as she continued to play, Knockout and Breakdown began to dance to the tune, and when they began to dance, so did Jack, Raf and Bumblebee. It was quite noisy in the lobby for a short time until Ratchet nearly accidentally stood on one of the speakers.

They all got the message pretty quickly, so Raf decided to show everyone a surprise. He had purchased some new remote cars and gave one to Jack and Miko. The two of them happily sped their model cars around. Knockout thought it was funny since the kids got to ride in real cars instead of these fake toys. But he and Breakdown were quickly entertaining when the kids began to race the cars around the lobby.

It was actually a lot of fun, and the cons got into the cheering alongside the bots. They knew each bot would cheer on the kid they were assigned to guard, but Breakdown and Knockout didn't have that issue. They simply cheered on the leader, and that was often Raf as he had the most expensive driving these model cars. Still, it was fun and it reminded Knockout of when he would go racing against the humans. He had thought about doing it again, but he didn't feel the need to get away like he did on the decepticon war ship.

"Ratchet, come in." Megatron's voice made everyone stop what they are doing. "Would it be possible that I can bridge into the base? I have something to show Saphira."

"I am sorry, Megatron. Saphira is out for a drive with Optimus." Ratchet didn't want Megan in the base while Optimus was not there. "I am afraid you will have to wait until they both have returned."

"Oh...well, may I come to the base while they are out? I think it will be a nice surprise for Saphira to return to the base and find me there. Plus, I can surprise her with some I have found." Megatron was hopeful that Ratchet would allow him in. He knew the medic was still cautious about him, and he completely understood why.

Ratchet taps his fingers on the side of the console thoughtfully. "I am not sure if I am comfortable with allowing you into the base while Optimus isn't here, Megatron."

"I promise I will come alone and that I will not go anywhere in the base without anyone escorting me," Megatron said in a reassuring tone. "I do not intend to cause a fight, Ratchet. I simply want to surprise my sparkmate."

"You should allow him in, Ratchet." The medic glanced at Knockout with a frown. "He has proven a lot recently."

"That might be true, Knockout. However...he has yet to be approved to come to the base without Optimus's presence. While Megatron may not cause any problem, I don't know if Optimus would be pleased with him being here while he is out." Ratchet intakes heavily as he processed the request. "May I inquire on what you want to show Saphira?"

There was a light chuckle in response. "Soundwave and I had found a way to get to one of the seemingly unmineable energon deposits underneath a large lake. While we were there investigating, I found a number of freshwater clams washed up on the bank. Many of them were open and had pearls in their mouths. I gathered at least a bag full of them of different colors. I had made them into something special for her. If I tell you what it is, will you keep it a secret?"

Ratchet listened to Megatron's explanation curiously. "I am sure we can keep it a closely, guarded secret."

"I hope you can. I really don't want the surprise to be ruined." Megatron really wanted to gift it to Saphira. "It had managed to turn these pearls into a bouquet of flowers. Pearl is surprisingly easy to mould into different shapes. And I know humans like gifting flowers to their loved one...and these ones won't die."
