Chapter 12

Emerys swivels , twists and turns through the air she always wondered how she would die but not like this. She continues to scream in horror when she feels her body crash onto something scaly.

Before she can even process what's going on it flys upwards and all she can do is grab onto scales she looks up her red hair flapping violently in her face as she realises she is on the dragon Godslayer. It flew and caught her. How?
Emerys eyes widen in disbelief and shock as the dragon soars upwards from the cliff and up into the night sky Emerys grips even tighter pulling herself on the dragon properly wrapping her legs around each side and clinging to the scales

The dragon spreads out its wings elegantly as it peacefully glides through the sky upright. Emerys still cannot process what's happening as she looks in front of her the horizon as she releasing how high up she is on the dragon. She looks down upon the river seeing the shape of the dragon flying across the stream.
A huge grin appears on her as she realises she has just mounted a dragon.

A giggle of joy escapes her her heart warms as she almost wants to jump up in excitement as the dragon twists and turns through the sky. The wind blowing violently in her face. Emerys enjoys every bit of the experience as she lets out a cry of joy as the dragon spins and twirls in the sky with Emerys.
Emerys can't stop giggling and cheering as tears form in her eyes. As the dragon glides , twists and turns she gently grabs the scales realising she can turn the dragon in any direction she chooses.

The dragon turns towards the cliff again turning to land as Emerys hair blows behind her that's when she realises people standing watching her glide past on the dragon. The dragon lands abruptly catching Emerys off guard she doesn't want to get off but she does turning to the dragon making eye contact and smiling.
Myrsi was her dragon now. They belonged together. It was meant to be. It was fate.

Emerys strokes his face and cuddles his face putting her forehead against its she looks over her shoulder smiling when she sees Gisla standing. White as a ghost. Emerys smiles proudly. Kila looks mesmerised as does Edmund the only three who had seen this.

"Emerys...you are a Targaryen." Edmund announces Emerys eyes widen in realisation. Her stomach drops. She was a Targaryen this entire time. She feels herself tear up with happiness.
"Targaryen" she whispers looking at Godslayer
"You are Prince Daemon's daughter. It is true all along" Kila gasps in shock as a smile forms on her lips

"I am someone" she whispers looking at Myrsi
"Emerys.." Gisla says
"Please don't tell anyone." Gisla cries out
Emerys and kilas facial expressions change to shock
"What?" Emerys asks
Gisla runs up to Emerys and grabs her by the shoulders

"Please Emerys! You are a Targaryen! They will want you to marry Aemond and not me! You will be made to reclaim your old titles! Please Emerys don't tell them truth! Don't let them know you claimed a dragon! Please Emerys I am begging you. Please don't steal everything from me" Gisla cries out shaking
As Emerys eyes widen with tears flooding down her face
"Gisla I can't leave my dragon. He needs me" Emerys whispers

Looking at Myrsi.
"I need you to be my friend" Gisla whispers
"Gisla!" Kila yells
"Stay out of this Kila!" Gisla cries out
"Where will I go?" Emerys asks
"I don't know but please Emerys go away and never come back!!" Gisla cries out
"What If I don't Gisla?" Emerys asks
"Then you were never a friend to me" Gisla cries out

Emerys eyes widen her heart hurting at those words
"I would never want to hurt you Gisla!" Emerys cries
"Then go! And never come back please!" Gisla desperately cries out

Emerys nods her head tears streaming down her face as she suddenly walks backwards and gets back on Godslayer and takes off into the sky. She hugs onto his scales as Godslayer soars deep into the night sky Emerys doesn't look back at them as her dragon takes off into the horizon. Into the unknown
But what she did know was that for the first time in her life she wasn't truly alone anymore and neither was her dragon. They had finally found each other.

She keeps her eyes fixated on the night sky and flies east.

Kila turns to Gisla
"What have you done?" He roars
"I protected our family" Gisla cries
"She is your best friend!" Kila roars in horror
"She is a threat to me brother why can't you see that?" Gisla cries

"I thought you cared about her?" Kila asks
"I do!" Gisla yells
"No you don't! You care about your title more." Kila accuses
"Our family is already powerful and she's grew up with nothing her entire life!! You've taken away everything owed to her!" Kila yells angrily passing by Gisla

"You love her" Gisla accused as Kila stands clenching his jaw
"You disgust me sister" he snaps heading back towards the courtyard as Gisla cries looking back into the sky where Emerys disappeared.
What had she done.
She cries as she hugs herself walking back down with guilt.

"Is everyone alright?" Viserys asks holding Alicent
"No sign of the dragon my king. It has disappeared" Otto Hightower says as everyone tries to clear up the chaos and get the injured to the healing rooms as Gisla returns

"Gisla where is Emerys?" Aemond asks looking concerned
"She didn't make it" Gisla says hugging herself in tears little didn't she know she was actually crying from the guilt as Kila turned the other way in a fury

He could say something but he chooses to stay silent. Aemond runs off In disbelief
"Aemond!" Alicent calls out
Emerys had died when she had used herself as bait to protect him and Gisla he would never forgive himself

Gisla looks back up to the night sky in horror and whispers one word
"I'm so sorry Emerys"
