The Holy Grail War, a contest, found by the Einzbern, Matou, and Tohsaka families centuries ago, in which seven mages summon seven Heroic Spirits to compete and obtain the power of the "Holy Grail", which grants a wish to each member of the winning duo. However, after the disaster in Fuyuki, there was a change in history. An 8th master rose up, he had more mana than everyone else, but this master was able to summon not one, but multiple servants due to his hight reserve of mana.
