Chapter 28 || Falling snow

Nobody noticed when I first stepped into the house, but it didn't take long for someone to notice me. Especially when there was a huge 6'4 man standing beside me. That really made me stand out.

Barry, my youngest brother, was the first to notice me.

"MOM! Sara's home and she has a boyfriend!" He yelled as loud as he could. My family was obnoxiously loud.

Barry came running up to me and jumped up to hug me. I laughed, "How's it going bud?"

He climbed down from my arms, seemingly not caring about what I just said and stared up at Noah, "What's his name," he asked.

"Noah," Noah replied.

"Like the guy from the Bible?" he asked, his innocent eyes staring up into Noah's.

"Uh... sure?" Noah looked over at me, his brows furrowed and uncertainty wavering in his eyes.

"Yeah like the guy from the bible." I said to Barry.

"That's what I thought," he stared up at me with a toothy smile. "You wanna play a video game with me, Sarah?" Barry asked as he rocked back and forth on his feet.

I let out a laugh, "Why don't you get Noah to play with you? I'm sure he would love to," I paused for a moment and looked over at Noah, "right Noah?"

"Sure." He said, of course he wasn't smiling, but if he was trying to get in my good graces than he could play with my little brother.

Barry grabbed his hand a pulled him away. Dragging him into the playroom.

I walked upstairs and down the hall to my old bedroom. Nobody noticed me and I thought now would be a good time to freshen up, there was still a little soot on my face from the explosion, even though I had rubbed it off in the truck I still had some left on my face. I grabbed an outfit from mine and Emily's closet. I then got in the shower to get rid of whatever dirt was left on my body. When I got out I walked back into my room, comfortable wearing a clean pair of jeans and a sweater. Stepping into my room I breathed out a sigh. Walking over to my bed and flopped down.

I felt the softness of my mattress and the smell of familiarity surround me. Home. I loved home. It was so comfortable. It was a place where you could relax and release, letting the stress of your life slip off your shoulders.

And that is what happened, as the stress of my life rolled off my shoulders I closed my eyes and fell asleep.

I woke up to my sister searching through her closet. Grumbling. Typical Emily.

Emily was one of those girls you'd see walking down the halls at school, hair perfect, makeup perfect, outfit perfect, basically every aspect of her life perfect. If anything I remember going to highschool with her was that while she was lazing around looking perfect and getting perfect grades I was working my ass off on stupid unit tests and shit.

Of course Emily was in grade nine at the time, that really can't be comparable.

Letting out a sigh I sat up, "What's going on Em?"

"Can't find my green cardigan, if it isn't here then I will have to change my entire outfit," letting out a big huff Emily crossed her arms over her chest while she stood in front of the two panel open door closet. I rolled my eyes.

"Emily, it's christmas. Just wear a tacky sweater with a pair of jeans. It isn't that complicated." I got up from bed and walked from the bed till I was standing beside her. Staring into the rows of clothes.
