I have been spending some time with Ndivhuwo after work, my meeting with his mother played an important role in us being okay again. I am happy to see him smiling and making an effort again, and I am also doing my best to forget about my little fling and focus on what is in front of me.
"You are always on time" Khangwelo says walking to where I am sitting
She looks like she's here for a date.
"You look amazing, are you sure you're here just to see me?" I askShe smiles as she gets settled.
"I won't take that as insult because I always look this good" She answers
"True" I add
She takes out her phone from her bag and hand it over to me. It a picture of her and a guy I don't know.
"Who is he?" I ask
"He is someone I'll be taking a last name soon" She smiles
"When did this start?" I ask her
"A week ago. But he's good to me in all kinds of ways" She says lost in thought and smiling at herself
"Do I get to know his name?" I ask waking her up
"Vusi" She answers taking her phone from me
"He's hot, a real hunk" I say
She looks at me like she wasn't expecting me to say that.
"You keep your eyes at Ndivhuwo not my man" She says, I laugh
"I am just complimenting good stuff" I say
"Honestly, I'm shocked to hear that from you especially when you're back with Ndivhuwo." She is now serious
"Why do you say that?" I ask
"You are so uptight, like you try so hard to be what he wants." She says
Wow!
"Real talk, if you are not who he wants by now then I think you'll never be. How long has he been with you again?" Khangwelo asks me
I swallow and take my menu from the table and start reading it, I don't want to shoe her how her words stings me or get in my feelings.
"I know Khangwi, can we please order something. At least a conversation like this needs a strong drink." I answer looking at my menu
She doesn't say anything but pick up her menu, the waiter walks to our table then we order and also get some gin and tonic.
"I want to leave Interox, get another job somewhere and stop being under Ndivhuwo. It is hard dating your boyfriend." I break the silence
She looks at me then puts her phone on the table."That's great." She smiles but she is not convinced by what I am saying, her fake smile gave her off.
"I love Ndivhuwo, and I want to be with him. So please just be my sister and not resent him like this." I stop
"Believe me, I am being your sister. He doesn't deserve you and you need to stop pretending as if you're happy." She says now serious
"I am happy..." I protest
She throws her hands up.
"Fine, it's your life. Your life Tshisi and you should do what makes you happy. I just hope you are happy." She smiles at meI am confused and I can't tell her that. I came here to confess about my secret fling with Enzo and maybe then it will not hurt the way that it does now. I wanted to confess that I think of him more than I should, that I want him more than I should, that I am crazy for falling for him even though I know I am not the only one. Larrisa looks at me with bitter eyes, I know she has had sex with him too. But still, I can't kill him in my head.
