It took him some minutes, but Y/N had finally wrote down the name and the effects for his brand new spell: Restitutio.

There were no spells that could bring back to normal something destroyed or missing, and Reparo only worked on objects.

Hermione then finally came back with her arms full of books.

Hermione: Here. This is everything I could find.
She said.

Y/N nodded.
Y/N: Great. Let's find an empty classroom.
He said.

They grabbed the books, and sprinted away. Once they finally found an empty classroom, they got in, and left the books on one of the desks.

Hermione: I think you should start with the Protective Charms.
She said, casually flipping through the pages of a book about protective charms.

Y/N: I was thinking that too.
He said, deep in thought.

Hermione: Here, let's try this.
She said, showing him the spell she had found.

Hermione: It's called Shield Charm.
She said.

Y/N nodded, and read the page carefully, focusing on the incantation and on the wand movement.

And then, they finally began.

Hermione would cast a spell, and Y/N had to block it with the Shield Charm.

Hermione: Are you ready?
She asked.

Y/N: Yeah... I think...
He said.

Hermione: Flipendo!
She said.
Y/N: Protego!
He said, waving his wand, but to no avail.

He fell back, unable to block it.

Y/N: Ow.
He muttered, massaging his back, as he got up.

Hermione: Let's try again.
She said.
Y/N nodded.

Hermione: Flipendo!
She said.
Y/N: Protego!
He said, but again, he fell on the ground.

Y/N: Are NEWT spells really this hard?
He muttered as he got up again.

Hermione: We'll keep practicing until you learn it.
She said sternly.

And she really meant that.

It had been almost two hours, and Y/N kept failing, unable to block the spell.

But it wasn't like when they had started.
He had in fact made quite some progress with the spell, and even if he didn't notice, he could partially block the spell, given the fact that it had been a while since he had actually fell on the ground.

Y/N: Hermione, this is getting us nowhere. We're just wasting time.
He muttered.

Hermione: It doesn't matter. I know you're exhausted, but you can't let these thoughts slow you down. Let's try one more time.
She said.

Y/N sighed, and then he nodded.
Hermione: I want you to focus, ok?
She said.

He nodded, getting ready.
Hermione: Are you ready?
She asked.

Y/N: Yes.
He said.

Hermione: Flipendo!
She said.
Y/N: Protego!
He shouted.

This time, he stood still, as the spell casted by Hermione had no effect on him.

They looked at each other, full of excitement.

Hermione: Y/N... That was awesome!
She said.
Y/N: I did it!
