Chapter 3: Viper is nice?

When 10 minutes away from landing, Viper got your attention and brought out a contract you had signed when first applying for your position.

"So Y/N, as you know, we have recruited you for a secret role within the Valorant Protocol, you will be working as a special operations agent. After we have established you at the main base, you will begin training for mission work." She explains to you. You nod, being aware of all of this since signing the form.

"Here is what's outlined within the fine print, which I'll assume you have read too." She continues, you play with your sleeves nervously, realising you never quite got through all the fine print.

"You are working in an extremely dangerous field, you will find yourself in fatal encounters which we cannot guarantee you will survive through, even with our specialised training," You gulp nervously, you definitely weren't aware of this dot point.

"You will also be bound to your contract for the next 4 years, by the government, with a short 3 day period following your training when you may decide to leave the protocol due to being ill equipped for the position. After leaving you may not rejoin the protocol for security purposes." You sigh at the end of the sentence, glad this was the last of the conditions. "Y-yes that is correct, I have signed off on it." You say, hesitantly making eye contact with Viper.

"Well all of that aside, the protocol is a very entertaining place, we have more agents like you from all around the world. You will get to socialise with many different people and join us on fun trips in between missions, also the temporary housing is really good!" She whispers the last bit, trying to cheer you up. You catch on to her last paragraph excitedly and have a lively discussion with Viper about all kinds of activities, holidays and allowances.

You are feeling a lot better with all these positives being revealed to you, when Brimstone yells; "Landing ladies!" Your hands instinctively shake as you hold onto the arm rests. "Your seat belt Y/N..." Says Viper, trying to look out for you. You can barely hear her voice as your flying anxiety catches up with you again.

*CLICK* You open your eyes momentarily, to see that Viper had slotted your belt buckles in place and had proceeded to tighten the strap for you. It was comforting and reassuring knowing she cared about your safety, even though you had just met her. "Thanks." You mumble, proceeding to stuff your face into the dinosaur in your hands.

"Y/N, honey, look at me please, just like before?" She says, in a soft tone. You can't help but do as she says, you slowly move Button away from your face and look at Viper.

"You know, I take all of my agents' safety so important, just relax Y/N, you'll be flying very often during your time here, so be brave for me." You blink back potential tears and nod your head.

"Here, just this once." Viper tells you, as she holds out a gloved hand to you. Nervously, you move your hand into her firm grip. "See I'm holding your hand tight and I won't let go until we are off the helicopter." She reassures you. You smile a little and squeeze her hand back.

"I really appreciate how much you care, Viper." You suddenly say, feeling better with the physical contact. "Don't mention it." Viper says, the traces of a sympathetic smile on her face.

The aircraft finally lands and you let out a breath of relief. "Good work Y/N, this was like a secret first mission for you!" Exclaimed Brimstone, giving you a high five as he walked toward the door of the helicopter. You laugh a little as you stand up and stretch out your sore legs.

"Alright so when we open the door, be prepared for a possibly loud welcome..." Smiles Brimstone, looking at you with excitement.

"Ah, even I'll admit, the Protocol's welcome parties are the best of the best." Chuckles Viper in agreement with Brimstone. They help you gather your belongings and then pry open the heavy door.
