Margaret whirls around the room like a top, packing her things into a huge suitcase on the bed. Her mother, Chloe, sits cross-legged in the big reading chair, drinking hot, aromatic tea spiked with a few drops of blood. At some point, seeing that her mother has no intention of helping her, Margaret addresses her.

Margaret: What's going to happen now, Mom? Will you help me get my suitcase ready? I'm already late

Chloe: I'm not going to help you make a big mistake.

Margaret grimaces.

Margaret: Please, Mom. We talked about this, didn't we?

Chloe: No, we didn't. You just announced to us that you were leaving, and even by phone. I fought with your father to let me come alone.

Margaret: You shouldn't have come.

Chloe: And what? Let you make that fatal mistake?

Margaret sits down heavily on the edge of the bed and sighs. Chloe sets the cup down on the coffee table, stands up and walks over to her daughter, who lifts her head and looks at her with tear-filled eyes.
