Her Grace

After making their way through the town, the group of friends had at last arrived at the royal palace.

As expected, guard clad in blue stood watch by the front gate.

"Great; how do you suppose we get in now?" Riju wondered aloud.

"We ask the guards for a meeting with the princess; making sure we're being polite of course," Teba replied, although even he sounded slightly unsure of his plan.

The group stood there a moment, watching the guards pacing back and forth, too nervous to take a step forward. That was, until Revali eventually broke the awkward silence with a somewhat dramatic sigh.

"If none of you lot want to step up, I'll do it," he said with a huff, walking towards the guards.

"Be careful!" Yunobo called after him.

It didn't take long for Revali to be noticed; they stopped in their tracks and grew visibly warier as they watched him approach.

Thankfully, there was no hostility in their movement. They both left their posts and met him halfway.

"Good sirs," Revali greeted them, tipping his head.

"Is there something the matter?" The first guard asked. Some pieces of his straw-colored hair escaped the uniform cap he wore.

"Actually, there is," Revali began again, "my friends and I wanted to know if the princess had a moment? We'd like to speak with her."

Both guards exchanged looks.

"You do realize she's incredibly busy," the second said, his voice far sterner than his companion's.

"We do," Revali answered, "but it has to do with the..." he paused and looked around to make sure no one else was around.

"It has to do with the feud."

He watched as their eyes widened, and they too looked around to make sure no others were nearby.

"Come to report a zora attack?" The straw-haired guard spoke again.

Revali felt his heart drop a level, but he quickly composed himself and shook his head.

"Er- no, but it's something of importance to the feud I think the princess ought to hear," he explained, receiving some slightly suspicious looks.

The sterner guard couldn't help but produce a "Hmph."

"Alright then, but we'll be escorting you in and keeping close watch," he replied, nodding to his partner to go unlock the gate.

Revali bowed his head again.

"Thank you, good sirs," he said, as they motioned for the rest of his group to come forward and follow them.

Mipha lowered her gaze. She felt rather guilty about sneaking into a castle, especially as uninvited as her kind was.

Unexpectedly, she felt a somewhat tight grip on her hand. Looking up, she quickly realized it was Yunobo's hand around her's. He flashed her a nervous, yet reassuring smile.

The group advanced on, the guards guiding them through the massive castle doors.

When they walked in, they were greeted by an absolutely beautiful front hall. Elaborate portraits lined the walls on both sides, and countless other decorative objects were proudly presented for people to look at.

Riju's mouth was agape and Teba cocked his head every few seconds to see at something new.

Even Revali was stunned, he followed behind the guards closely, but his face said it all.

At the back of the group, Mipha and Yunobo couldn't help but admire the decorations too. The zora princess was particularly fascinated with the absolutely breathtaking chandelier hanging from the ceiling. It had more candles than she could count.

She looked up at it; her gaze fixated on its beauty.

"The princess should be in her quarters, but we'll summon her as soon as..." it was the guard with straw-colored hair that spoke when all of a sudden, he paused, his face draining of all its color.

"Everyone stop!" he shouted; his voice quivered in fear as he reached for his sword.

Confused as to what was happening, the group turned around to see that Mipha's hood had slipped off.

The guard charged forward with his weapon raised and his companion in hot pursuit.

Yunobo was rudely thrust aside while Mipha had less than a second to comprehend the situation at hand.

"Nobody move!" The second guard shouted, wrapping an arm around Mipha to restrain her while his partner raised his weapon and pointed it directly at her face.

Teba was the first to speak up.

"Wait a moment! She won't attack you; she's innocent!" He said, raising a wing to try and stop them, but the guards did not back down.

"So, you're with her then? We ought to place you all under arrest; for high treason!" The straw-haired guard retorted.

But, before he could act on his threat, both guards were interrupted by a sudden voice coming from the far end of the hallway.

"Benjamin, what on earth is going on?!" The shrill voice of princess Zelda shouted.

All heads turned in her direction.

She was standing in front of a now open doorway with her knight by her side, his sword out of its sheath.

There was silence for a moment, as Zelda tried to assess what was going on, and eventually, her eyes landed on the helpless zora apprehended by the guards.

"Your grace, we've captured a zora and its allies!" Benjamin spoke up again, his sword still pointed at poor, trembling Mipha.

"Your grace, we can explain!" Riju chimed in worriedly, as the princess's knight lowered his sword.

Zelda said nothing for a few moments more, her mouth still agape in shock.

"An explanation would be preferable," she eventually said curtly. "Benjamin, Fredrick, stand down. This matter can be handled more civilly."

Following orders, the two guards reluctantly let go of Mipha, taking a step back as they did so.

Princess Zelda murmured something to her knight no one could catch, and he nodded in response.

"You will join me in the throne room where we will discuss this at once," Zelda said, her tone alarmingly sharp. "Guards, escort them in."

Benjamin and Fredrick nodded their heads, corralling Yunobo, Riju, Teba, and Revali to get into a single file.

Link headed over to Mipha. While his weapon was still raised, there wasn't aggression in his movement. Perhaps he could tell she was scared out of her mind.

He said nothing and only gestured forward, indicating that she should start walking.

Not wanting to cause more trouble, Mipha pursed her lips and walked ahead, keeping her eyes lowered, and avoiding eye contact with anyone.

She could only pray that the oracle truly knew what she had done.
