Chapter 10

Twins 17th

I was right.

Kaden didn't let me do anything.

He was right by my side the whole night so no guy wanted to dance with me. And he didn't let me get one drink in.

We were only there for an hour before I gave up and told him to take me home.

I'm refusing to talk to him at the moment.

Why did he have to ruin my night? Doesn't he understand I need this?

"You can't ignore me forever Nova" He says

I ignored him.

"Talk to me"

"I'll give you skittles and take all the orange ones out for you"

I keep pretending I can't hear a word he says.

"Oh for fucks sake Nova" He says before pulling over on the side of the road and turning the car off.

I look over at him silently questioning what he was doing.

"We're not leaving till you talk to me"

"Why did you have to come with me, Kaden? I was trying to have a good night. You guys can't control everything I do" I yell

"We're not trying to control you Nova. We're trying to protect you from yourself. Can't you see? You've put walls around yourself and you're dealing with everything alone when you don't have to! Why are you pushing us away?" He yells

"Cause you'll end up dead for loving about me" I yell back

"What?"

"You'll end up dead just like my mom. Just like Anna and Isaac" I cry

"My own fucking father will kill you all just because you're my only family. I'll be here for Noah but there's no way I'll be able to live without you guys"

"You won't have to—"

"You don't know that Kaden. I can't get my moms screams or Anna's dead body out of my fucking head and it's driving me crazy. I was so happy for a couple weeks. I had everything I wanted and I thought, i thought i would be happy and at peace. Everything is ruined" I yell

Kaden pulls me into his arms and lets me cry. We're still in the car but that doesn't matter right now.

"I can't say what our future will look like but I can promise you I'll do everything in my power to help take your father down. You have to be strong and not push us away. We have to be a team right now or else Ricardo will win this fight." He says

"It's all my fault Kaden" I sob

"It's not baby" He says softly

We get home and walk into the living room to see Alex, Noah, and Jake sleeping on the couch with the lion king on the tv.

"I'm gonna go change. Can we sleep down here with them?" I ask

"Of course" He smiles

I change into sweats and Jakes hoodie them make my way to the living room.

Kaden suddenly pulls me in his arms

"Happy Birthday Nova" He says then kissed the top of my head

I look down at my phone.

November 11th
12:00AM

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY LOVES" Jake yells jumping on Noah and I.

"Jake get the fuck off you oaf" Noah yells

"Language!" Lorenzo says walking in the room with 2 cupcakes

I'm still pretending I'm sleeping. Maybe they'll go away if I pretend they're not actually here.

Luck isn't on my side today.

Noah picks Jake up slightly and throws him on me

"Ow what the hell Jake! Get off" I push him and he ends up back on top of Noah

"You guys are 17 today! You're growing up so fast" He says wiping a fake tear off his face.

"And you'll be 16 for another 7 months" Noah says smiling up at Jake.

Jake glares at him so Noah pulls him down with him and holds him with one arm while pulling the covers back up with the other.

Kaden and Alex walk in carrying a couple wrapped presents.

"Jake you were supposed to wake them up not go to sleep with them" Alex says

"Get up before the candles go out" Enzo says

Noah and I sit up and blow the candles together.

Noah told Jake about how Isaac would bring them 2 cupcakes every birthday and watch movies all day so he decided he would do that for us this year.

I'm glad something's don't change.
