CHAPTER 35: GOLD
EMBER'S POV
"Nandito na ang pandesal!"
Napatigil kami ni Papa sa pagsasayaw nang marinig namin ang sigaw ni Domino na nasa kabilang bahagi ng kinaroroonan namin.
We're at The Forest Barn. It's a beautiful, rustic English barn venue in the middle of a forest-like setting. The place has a lot of space to accommodate the guests without being overly crowded. Trace and I's wedding organizer made sure to keep the spacious vibes so instead of going for round tables, we opted for two long banquet wooden tables that stretch from the front of the barn down to the other direction, decorated by simple vases of white flowers, while above are hanging willow garlands wrapped around string lights.
Sa magkabilang gilid ng lugar ay naroon ang mga pagkain. The five-tier naked wedding cake are in the same corner and is simply decorated with white flowers and herb leaves. We decided to have a buffet for the reception para malaya ang lahat na kumuha ng pagkain kapag gusto nila. Breakfast ang theme ng mga nakahanda dahil masyadong maaga ang kasal.
I didn't want a program for the reception. I just like everyone to eat and have fun so that's what we all did the moment we arrived here. I've danced with almost everyone and of course my husband who was reluctant to share me with anyone. Kung hindi pa siya sinindak ni Papa ay baka hindi pa niya ako pinakawalan.
"Papa Emz! May taho!" kumakaway na tawag ni Trace na nasa pintuan ng venue.
Nagsalubong ang mga kilay ni Papa sa tinawag sa kaniya ng lalaki pero naiiling na lumuwag ang pagkakayakap niya sa akin. "Are you going to get mad if I ship your husband in the middle of the Pacific Ocean with nothing but a boat and paddle?"
"Uhh... probably, Pa. Siguro tanungin mo na lang po ako ulit sa first wedding anniversary namin."
He nodded as if he understands the meaning behind my words. "It's a deal then. Maybe next year. Kapag napasakit niya na ang ulo mo ng sobra."
I laughed when he patted my head before he walked towards the entrance of the barn while muttering something about killer sharks.
"Ember! Gusto mo ng pandesal?" tanong ni Lucienne na nakapila na sa Egg Station. May hawak siya na kulay brown na paper bag. "Malapit ng maubos ang tinda ni Manong sa labas. Babalik daw siya mamaya para magdala pa ng tinapay."
There's a lot of variety in the food available. Everyone enjoyed the food even though we reduced the menu with meat on them. Mukhang hindi naman problema iyon sa kanila dahil ilang beses na ring ni-refill ang mga pagkain.
May tinapay din. Kaya lang ay hindi raw kumpleto ang almusal na walang pandesal.
No wonder Lia cooks a lot. The Dawsons have big appetites. Kahit pa sabihin na hindi lang naman sila ang bisita.
